About Charlie Sheen…
Well sports fans, yet another celebrity bad boy story. To recap Charlie’s late night Monday, he meets with his ex wife, Denise Richards and their two children. They have dinner at a nice restaurant in New York. Charlie brings at least one, maybe two, escorts – you know – hookers.
Charlie is drunk and doing blow it was thought. He’s loud and yelling. At some point during the meal he leaves the table headed for the restroom with one of the escorts. It’s reported that he was gone for a long time.
Wonder what they were doing? Continue reading →

As promised, here is the last part of Cocaine Crazy…
As I mentioned in my last entry on the topic, I did four and one half years in federal prison. I went to prison following my money laundering trial in LA which ended in 1984. I was found guilty and sentenced to seven years. At that time you did two thirds of your sentence and that was with good behavior. Now its 85% of the sentence – yikes!
Sex in prison.
This is one of the most asked questions by people who have never done any slam time. And here is the truth on that subject. Continue reading →
Well Chiefs Fans like I told you last week, HE IS THE FRANCHISE…
His name is Matt Cassel. Yes sir, we were wrong – I was wrong. The man gets better every week. Three weeks in a row his passer ratings passed 100. He is fast becoming a star in the NFL.
Oh yeah, Bad boy Dwayne Bowe, is moving on up with Matt.
It’s Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel’s Big Game, will He Shine?
Is this the game that will make Matt the Man. Will he take another step forward to become the Chiefs Franchise Quarterback?
Its a home game, a must win, against the Jaguars (who are not the best on defense these days).
And Matt is ready. This is it baby.
After Sunday there will be little doubt, MATT IS THE MAN. Continue reading →
Is Life Worth doing a second time? Would you do it all over again if you could?
I’m sure you’ve had that thought, “If given a choice would I live my life over?”
This not knowing what is going to happen in advance.
In other words, you get to be you again from birth til now and on until you die. So it’s something you would have to really think about. Continue reading →
The Chiefs were minutes away from being crowned champs in the West and then…
You saw it. Early third quarter, away game, Chiefs dominating a very good team in all phases of the game. They were up 21-7, Continue reading →
How the mighty have fallen…
A young man who was in Kelly’s drinking late Saturday night was killed after leaving the Westport bar. The attendant media fallout has sparked a PR nightmare for the club and Westport in general.
Just think, a handful of years back Kelly’s and Stanford and Sons were the twin peaks of the Kansas City bar world. There’s no argument that these two forces ruled a significant portion of the nightlife scene in KC – two busy bars right next to each other. The anchors of Westport for the better part three decades, between them they did $6 million a year in biz.
No more. Continue reading →
Time to tell it like it is…
Fumbled fingered Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe needs to stop smoking so he can stop choking.
We all know the Chiefs are a decent if not good football team now. We also know that Matt Cassel has been awful and is not getting any better. We have now seen him stink for one entire season and the first third of this one. We also know that our wide receivers are not very good. In fact pretty bad.
Here’s the word from very strong inside sources: D-Bowe is big with the bud. Continue reading →
Oh My God He Punched Me!
Once upon a time, Gallagher was a comedy legend. Now he’s a mean, old guy who feels that the world should only listen to him and his thoughts. He doesn’t want to hear from you or me or anybody else, for that matter. When he was on stage, he put on a great show. Off stage, he was crazy.
And not in a funny or good way, as you might suspect…
It all started when I met him Monday morning last, at 7 a.m.to do Johnny Dare on 98.9 The Rock. I had him picked up by a limo -mean me,. The limo brought him to the station. He got out of the car and didn’t really seem to want to meet or speak to anyone including me.
OK. Continue reading →

And you thought I was self-serving…
Legendary comedian Gallagher at Stanford’s this week, brings a legend to town on the heels of the unexpected deaths of two of today’s most famous comedy stars.
Kind of weird. Gallagher, a fixture on Comedy Central,Showtime and VH-1 for nearly two decades is at Stanford and Sons this Tuesday and Wednesday,October 5 and 6th. Continue reading →
Alright, hold the jokes…
Kansas City Star columnist Jenee Osterheldt wrote a column this week about cocaine. And while much of what she wrote was true, from appearances she has very little firsthand knowledge and many of her comments were lame.
Example: “While marijuana spans generations and remains constant in pop culture, coke became a cult drug. Largely associated with Hollywood and a flashier lifestyle, its a status high,” Osterheldt wrote in the Star.
A status high? Continue reading →
A brief followup to my story about former Kansas City actor Arlis Howard, the star of TV’s new hit drama RUBICON on TBS…
Arlis showed up in KC a couple years back to promote his new film, Big, Bad, Love, co starring his wife Debra Winger. And I met with Les – his bartender monicker when he worked for my dad at Stanford’s in Westport years ago. So Les and former Stanford’s general manager Larry Marks and I had lunch together that day. Larry had been close with Les when he bartended there in the early 80’s.
In fact it was Larry, a Vietnam war vet, who’d showed Arlis how he and other field troops has cooked eggs in their helmets during the war. They’d cracked the eggs, salted and peppered them in the helmet, took a lighter and cooked it all up in the helmet bottoms and then ate them. Continue reading →
“Those Hollywood Nights, those Hollywood years, I was looking for the light…all it got me was tears..”
Stanford and Sons launched more TV/movie actors than any venue in Kansas City history. That’s a fact, not an opinion. Louie Anderson, Sinbad, Continue reading →
If you watched Saturday’s BIG GAME at Arrowhead, Iowa State vs. K-State, you may have noticed nobody was at the stadium.
The camera steered clear of showing the seated area as best it could for just that reason. The announced attendance was 38,000m but my hunch is the real number was closer 28,000. And since Arrowhead seats around 80,000 fans., the game was a major bust.
In fact both schools announced they will not return to Arrowhead in 2011 and beyond.
And Iowa State is one of the Big 12’s better traveling schools. At least where Kansas City is concerned. To be honest without the Iowa State folks Sprint Center would be fairly empty during the Big 12 basketball tournament leading up to the KU game.
Here’s a little secret… Continue reading →
Instead of going over how lucky the Chiefs are for being 2 and 0 and that Matt Cassel still isn’t any good, etc., lets hit something more important for now, Sam Mellinger.
Sam is now the man at the Kansas City Star – sports and beyond. Who would have thought that after Jason Whitlock, Joe Posnanski and Jeff Flanagan all left in the wake of the newspaper’s financial woes the past two years that Sam the Man would be killing it for the Star.
He is outstanding. Continue reading →
