Glazer: Scribe Eats Some Humble Pie, Prays for Chiefs Win

Many of you had good points re my reaction to the news about Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel‘s medical status…

In the lowly comments section, no less. So now that I have calmed down for a minute, let’s take another look.

The initial report I got was Cassel would be "out for season."

Glazer: Humble Scribe Throws in the Towel, Decares Chiefs Season DOA

Turn out the lights, the party’s over….

There goes that song again.

It’s so god damn sad and unfair.

Chiefs star quarterback, Matt Cassel just had an emergency appendicitis operation and is likely out for the year.

Glazer: Ted McKnight’s Record & Dandy Don’s Singing Flashback

A couple football stars I know made the news the last couple days…

My good pal, Ted McKnight, former running back of the Kansas City Chiefs, made the front page of the Star sports section this past weekend. Ted was the star running back for the Chiefs in the late 1970’s til 1980.

McKnight had the impressive record of most yards per carry of any Chief ever.

This is a record current Chiefs star Jamaal Charles is chasing today. McKnight lighted it up for 6.3 yards per carry in 1978.

Wow, a now thirty plus year record.

Glazer: The Chiefs Art of Winning Ugly

It’s DEFENSES that win championships!

Like Raiders owner and general manager Al Davis says, "Just win baby." That applies to the Chiefs win over Denver Sunday at Arrowhead.

The good news is the Chiefs Defense was the best its been this year.

At least that applied to the pass defense. Giving up just six points to Denver was awesome. Holding Kyle Orton one of the league’s best passers to less than 100 yards, really nice. And the Chiefs got all the stops they needed in the second half to win

Glazer: Humble Scribe Looks to Difficult Path Ahead for Chiefs

So if you are a faithful fan – and I know you are – you’ve done the math regarding the Chiefs and the playoffs…

As you can see, more then likely our Kansas City Chiefs will have to beat San Diego next Sunday to win the West.

More shocking, not only would a loss likely cost the Chiefs the division but also a wild card spot.

And if everything goes the way it looks, KC will be the odd team out. Either the Jets or New England at 9-2 will win the East and the runner up will be a wild card ( with probably at least 11 plus wins), so we can’t get a spot there.

Baltimore and the Steelers are both 8-3. And the one who wins the division is also likely to win at least 11 games.

Glazer: How Illegal Drugs Fuel Our Economy and Will Always Be Illegal

Since this is a post, not a novel, I’ll keep it brief…

I could write a book on this subject because, like it or not, I’m an EXPERT. I’ve been a state agent on loan to the feds (DEA, FBI), an outlaw and a Federal Prisoner. I have been through two federal trials. I have been through two state trials, including a murder trial. More importantly, I’ve sat in on many national and local law enforcement meetings on this subject.

KEEP DRUGS ILLEGAL.

The reasons are not what you may think they are.

Glazer: Humble Scribe Flaunts Chiefs Win

Think guarded optimism…

Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel, the Franchise, and all pro wide receiver Dwayne Bowe have given  the team a real shot at winning the AFC West. Despite virtually everyone picking San Diego. In fact most pun dents still feel the Chargers have a shot at the Super Bowl. NFL anchor Terry Bradshaw even named the Chargers Phillip Rivers as the "number one quarterback in the NFL under 30."

In fact Bradshaw’s Top 10 list did not even include Franchise Matt Cassel, who may be an All Pro this year.

Glazer: The End of Nightlife as We Know It

Well…

Hearne hit on a sad but strong point. Nobody was at the Plaza for the lighting ceremony.

Let me enlighten you further. Nobody is out at all, except shoppers on Black Friday. For the most part, the crowd going out for drinks and partying anymore is nonexistent. Sure, there is an okay Saturday here and there, but overall, it is d.e.a.d.

Glazer: Jason’s Whitlock’s Fantasy Paycheck

Well sports fans, the time has come to face up to the truth...

Jason Whitlock’s radio and television interview about making $2.1 million was basically untrue. Yes, the stuff about the Kansas City Star likely was for real. But the Star took no action against its editor who in the end effectively dumped Jason. So the editoir’s bad acts were basically kicked to the curb. Undoubtedly Star editor Mike Fannin has been under the gun, however no for-public-consumption action has been, taken to this point.

610 Sports host Nick Wright‘s long interview with Jason late last summerwas watchedand/or lsitened to by thousands of KC sports fans.

What we were left with was that Jason quit due to poor treatment and he was going to make big time bank with Fox Sports.

Glazer: Giving Thanks for Johnny Dare

It’s time to really give 98.9 and Johnny Dare  the attention and credit deserved…

More than anyone in our city – except maybe the Chiefs – Dare puts this town on the map. With the help of his staff at The Rock and program director Bob Edwards, Dare’s show is second to none. Seems like just yesterday Dare and Edwards were promoting a sold out Rock Fest with more than 50,000 people, making it a national event.

I was there it was HUGE.

Outside of a couple football games Rock Fest is now OUR BIGGEST KC EVENT. Period.

Glazer: Death by Deer, Drunks Gone Wild & Coulier Does Jardine’s

Not everything that goes down in the comedy game is a laughing matter…

Far from it.

Last week Stanford and Sons hosted the national Laughing Skulls Comedy Contest. I had just gotten back from LA, so I wasn’t there to be a judge but Channel 4 sent a reporter to judge, XM Radio sent a DJ and my father Stan Glazer was judge number three.

And 10 comics from all across the nation did their thing in front of a good-sized crowd.

What happened next was both weird and sad.

Glazer: Cassel – the Most Valuable Player on the Chiefs

The Chiefs Franchise quarterback, Matt Cassel is on his way to the top of the NFL.

As you know, I dubbed Matt THE FRANCHISE about six weeks back. Guess what? He now is just that! Matt Cassel is THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER ON THE CHIEFS, PERIOD. He is worth the paycheck he receives. Ranked number 8 in the NFL overall and 2nd in touchdowns to INTs. The guy is simply, "Very Good."

For those of you who said, "Glazer knows dick about football," hmmm. I only doubted him early due his headcase problems. The guy didn’t want to be here for a season and a quarter. It showed. Now he has accepted the team, the coach and the city. Likely we will hear much more from THE FRANCHISE in the media as time rolls forward.

Glazer: Clint Eastwood, Lorenz Sign up for King of Sting Movie Deal

Well, as some of you know I was in LA this past week, my former place of residence from 1981-1994.

In 2008 I wrote a hit book, my life story, The King of Sting. I had optioned the rights to my life story once before in LA, which got me into the film industry back in the early 80’s. And over the years I’ve produced five feature sports films, including Champions Forever starring Muhammad Ali. I did another Ali movie in October of 2009.

My life’s goal has always been to have my life story put on screen and we are very close now.

Glazer: The Rise & Fall of the Kansas City Chiefs

Oh brother. What once was a promising season is starting to look too much like last year and the year before and the year before and – well you get it!

Seems like only yesterday. Third quarter of the Houston game, on the road – the Chiefs just scored and it seemed like the game was over. These Chiefs are about to lock up the Western Division Title in the AFC!  Man are they dominating the Texans. This game is over! The Chiefs will move to 5-1! They’re gonna be hard to catch.

Then the wheels came off.

Glazer: Chiefs Do or Die in Denver & Will DBowe Not Blow?

Here we go Chiefs fans, almost a do or die game…

No, officially it won’t knock the Chiefs out, but the blow could be hard to overcome. So this really is a MUST WIN game.

Two wild cards: Will Dexter McCluster be able to play and can DBowe please wait until after the game to boot the gong?

Glazer: Back in Hollywood!

As many of you may have heard I’m in LA, working on getting my book The King of Sting made into a film…

I tell you, it reminds me of why I like Kansas City better overall. WE DON’T HAVE THIS AWFUL TRAFFIC! That’s the main thing.

Great news: As most of you probably know the changes in America usually start in LA or New York. And the economy in LA is moving upward. Last time I was here eight months back,  Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Brentwood were dead. Real dead.

Now it’s booming!

Glazer: Kansas City – City of Losers – Face It We Suck

Move over Topeka…

The real reason we don’t have any college or professional sports programs of note – meaning ones that win or get into championships: We live in Kansas City.

We’ve been a small to medium market city for more than half a century. We’re not considered a glamour town. And what many of you guys don’t know or won’t face is that we have no real national image.

None.

Glazer: Chiefs – Only Good Enough to Disappoint

Chiefs!

This is for all those who THINK I don’t know football.

Yes, I played in high school and tried out in college, so I do know a little about football. Okay okay, so it was my freshman year but I was a starting linebacker.

Now, on to the Chief’s dismal loss to the Raiders…

Glazer: That One Shining Moment

As we make our way through life, there is usually a moment, a time, an event that stands out…

We always want a lot of those, but unfortunately there won’t be many. When I was a kid, I loved to watch TV shows like The Rifleman,Bat Masterson, Davey Crockett and Have Gun Will Travel. Yeah, that was a long time ago. But like most kids I dreamed of being one of those guys.

But in real life.

Either as a an actor or for real – a gunfighter, a lawman or an outlaw.

I played – or rather pretended to be – a hero all day on Saturdays at my grandmother’s house, And when the other kids got too old to continue these made up stories, I went on my own. I was maybe 12 or so by then and the other kids went out to play football or baseball.

My dad wanted me to be an athlete like my younger brothers. My brother Jeff was an outstanding baseball player, latter he was a JV quarterback at Shawnee Mission East. My youngest brother Jack, well he tried. He was on the team, just not a standout. Me, I played some baseball, was a good hitter but not much of a fielder.

Glazer: No Moss in K.C. Can Chiefs Beat Raiders?

Every NFL team has talked about the should "we or shouldn’t we" on Randy Moss

Even the Chiefs.

There’s absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this team needs another wide receiver. We’ve  operated all year with just one, DBowe. Chris Chambers is done or so it would seem. He got paid and, I guess, kinda quit. Or just isn’t good enough anymore.

It’s pretty simple; if you are not wanted by New England with Tom Brady, who  can and does throw deep, or Brett Favre, who deeply wanted Moss, he’s a no go in KC. Besides THE FRANCHISE, Matt Casel, has not exactly been the winged warrior going deep thus far!

So that’s that. On to Oakland!

This will be an uphill battle for the Chiefs. They have yet to prove they can beat anyone on the road. They won a tough one with Cleveland and that’s it. The Raiders maybe are the sleeper team in the AFC. They’re ranked number 8 in overall offense and number 9 in overall defense. And the Chiefs are 12th in offense and 16th in defense. So you can see the issue right there. By the way Oakland is number 2 in running the ball and number 4 against the pass. Yikes!
