Glazer: Don’t Kid Yourselves, Maria Shriver Totally Knew Arnold Was Fooling Around

I’ve met Arnold Schwarzenegger a few times…

Arnold co starred with my former girlfriend Sandhal Bergman in Conan as well as Red Sonja. Classics. And my best pal, Sonny Landham co-starred with Arnold in Predator. But it wasn’t until Mickey Rourke had a party for the opening of a hair salon in Beverly Hills, that I really met Arnold. Because he had worked with Bergman and Landham we were all seated at the same table at Rourke’s party.  It was in the early 90’s, so Arnold was still one of the top film stars on the planet at the time.

Even though he had been married to Maria Shriver for years, it was clear he openly dated at that time.

He spoke and joked about his desires. In fact, he slept with Sandhal during Conan, she admitted to me.

"Who wouldn’t?" she said to me.

Glazer: The Totally Bogus Myth That NASCAR Brings Biz to KC

Oh my God, the race is this weekend at Kansas Speedway, it will be a zoo!

"Craig, bet you guys will be packed with the NASCAR race fans this weekend!" Yeah, right. That’s what everybody always says. And what’s really nice is the city puts all those highway signs up saying, RACE WEEK, FRIDAY & SATURDAY.

Meaning, STAY AWAY IT WILL BE NUTS.

Now the truth: "This is unreal, we are one of the busiest restaurants in the area and this is our slowest weekend of the year unless it snows," said a Yardhouse waiter.

Glazer: There’s Just One Reason to Watch the Royals, a Million Not to

The Royals have one of the most exciting rookies in baseball, Eric Hosmer.

Hey, the guy is in the No. 3 spot already and batting .300. He’s likely to be the American League Rookie of the Year. In fact, he likely will be our only ALL STAR this year, outside of long shots for Billy Butler or Alex Gordon,

Total long shots.

The Royals have at least measured by the team’s stats a decent hitting line-up.
They lead off with Gordon, hitting just under .290. Then Cabrera hitting .273,  Hosmer at .300, Franceur at .276 with some power and Butler at .305. Even our No. 6 guy Betemit is hitting .297.
Impressive huh? No, not at all. We still stink.

Glazer: Who Needs Girlfriends When You’ve Got Hope (The Squirrel)?

When I was a kid, my Dad told me, "Son, you can catch a rabbit or a squirrel if you can get salt on their tail."

Good, old Stan

Remember that one? So like a moron, I would get my little brothers, Jeff and Jack, and go chase the little bastards all over the back yard. We never got close to any of them. When I was a little bigger we moved onto a cardboard box with a string and carrot. That didn’t work either.

I have to admit, like most little kids, I eventually got to play with a couple rabbits. Someone would bring one to "show and tell" at school and we’d get to take the bunny home for a day or two. However, nobody ever brought a squirrel to school.

Glazer: Watch Out! The Slammer Takes KC by Storm

The wait is over, it’s here: THE SLAMMER.

Photos and stories about our local BAD GUYS AND GIRLS. Yep, Johnson,Wyandotte, Jackson and coming soon Platte counties. Photos and tales about people arrested, convicted or on the run in our area. Photos and stories on sex offenders, most wanted and even celebrity crime.

This week it has Nick Nolte, his ugly arrest photo and his replacement nice looking one. Yes, you can replace your creepy arrest picture taken by the photo cop with a nice high school or college picture.

Oh, joy.

Glazer: Surprise, Surprise! Memorial Weekend Hottie Homecoming at Woodside

It all went down Sunday at Woodside Health and Tennis Club…

Just this side of State Line – yes – in Kansas. The girls were there and once again Woodside proved why it’s No. 1 in hot bodies and poolside fun. Don’t believe me? Check the pics.

I got there before just 11 AM, worked out and hit the pool.

One thing that sets Woodside apart is it has three large pools behind the main clubhouse. Two for adults only, the other a family pool. One pool has cocktail service and a bar. It also has some of Kansas City’s finest ladies.

Glazer: Couch Potato Epidemic Will Kill Off Movie Theaters, Live Entertainment

Coming soon, entertainment armageddon…

Take the movie biz. There’s no urgency to go see a movie at a theater because they’re available on TV in matter of weeks. Pay per view, Netflix, etc.

So movie houses will begin closing in two years.

They’ll be like drive-in theaters are now. Remember, younger folks didn’t grow up with dinner and a movie being a big deal so agiant  screen and pricey popcorn mean zip.

Glazer: Down & Out in Kansas City w/ Royals, Chiefs

With the passing of Split, it reminds me of the good old days of the Kansas City Royals.

Those days are long gone. Nearly a lifetime ago we mattered as a ball club. Now we only make ESPN news when our pitcher gives up a record 11 runs in one inning on the way to giving up 19 total runs.

Once again the Royals are much closer to last place – six games out – than first, 8 1/2 games out.

By June lst we’ll be in next to last in our division. To be honest, we stink again. Yes, the team is barely watchable. No pitcher that matters. Almost no hitting to speak of. And a couple young guys who have "potential" but are doing just above average like Hosmer, the next George Brett, batting .281. That’s decent, but not anything worthy of the national news.

Zip, zero, a no-show, nothing, nobody cares.

Glazer: Carlos Mencia Sells Out First Show, Adds Second

Good news…

Stanford‘s has added a second show this Thursday May 26th for Carlos Menica. His first show is a sell out, so we’ve added a 9:45 p.m. show as well.

Carlos starred in Mind of Mencia,  The Heartbreak Kid w/ Ben Stiller, and was even on In Living Color with Damon Wayans and Jim Carey.  The last time Mencia did KC he played the Midland and sold it out a couple years back. Now he’s getting ready for a new TV special, so he’s stopping by Stanfords’ because he did so many shows in Westport back in the late 90’s.

Glazer: Black Barbie Bounces Back & The Search for Numero Uno

You know that old strip club song by Joe Rogan, "Voodoo Punanny"?

"Can’t get away from that voodoo punanny"  – meaning that crazy good poontang! So this past Saturday, me minding my own business of course, during a busy sold out show for J.Chris Newberg, the opening act comes up and says: "Hey Craig, there’s a 6′ 2", gorgeous black girl in the lobby asking for you."

So I went to see who she was. At first I didn’t recognize her. And then – OH MY GOD –  BLACK BARBIE!

I hadn’t seen her for almost a year and a half. Have to admit, DAMN! What a body, and she still has that "it" thing. She had on stiletto heels, that make her way too tall. In real life she’s about 5′ 11′.  Barbie was with another girl who had gone out with Jim Jeffries way back when. Since I got divorced, I have to say I’ve had more fun with Black Barbie (real name is Monique) than any other woman.

But man, what a headache!

Glazer: Legends & Village West Becoming Epicenter of Kansas City

In the 60’s the Plaza ruled…

Even though the beautiful, midtown shopping and entertainment district had been around for decades, it hit its stride in the ’60’s. Before that Downtown still was the "it" place in the metro.

But over the last five to 10 years the Plaza has lost many of its visitors, big name local shops and restaurants.

The Plaza started going national with chains in the late 90’s. Since then it’s moved away from nightlife and entertainment. For the most part there are no longer any nightclubs there. So it’s a bit more, well, quiet.

So what’s next for our city?

Glazer: Westport’s Hell Bar Hosting Johnny Dare’s Reunion Friday

Suppose they gave a reunion and the guest of honor didn’t show?

That’s likely to be the case Friday at Westport’s new Hell Bar in the space formerly occupied by Johnny Dare’s. Johnny will not be showing up, but his "Reunion Party" will still go down. Yes sir, in the original spot.

I converted the former Stanford & Sons into Johnny Dare’s in 2004. It got national media attention. Mostly because of Dare being a DJ with his own bar named after him. Stanford’s also had a national rep, 30 years of comedy and flower pot bread. Two household names in the midwest. Front page news in the Star and a mention on "Good Morning America."

Pretty cool.

Glazer: Rockfest to Rule KC Concert Roost Over Aggie’s (Politically) Dead Body

Maybe that goofy Aggie Stackhaus actually helped Johnny Dare and 98.9 FM’s Rockfest more than anyone would have imagined….

With all the publicity last year over the mud and rain b.s. it focused a lot of attention on the event in the media. In fact, the mayor even came out and backed 98.9 and Dare. He made it clear that Rockfest stays where it is, no matter what Aggie thinks! She wanted it moved due to all the mud damage.

Yeah sure, Aggie. Let’s see if the new mayor reappoints you to the park board.

Meanwhile, Dare has named the porta potty area "Aggie Ville."

Glazer: KC Actress Gina Ninci & Comic Will C Dance With Stars

Well, we all have stories about the one that got away, right?

When I was traveling between LA and KC – running Stanford‘s and producing sports films – I met this killer, blue-eyed, 20 year-old blonde, Gina Ninci. My brother, Jack, brought her to my office. She was centerfold material, and seemed to be a very nice person.

Smashing looking!

So I invited her to go back to LA with me and she said, cool. She told me her name and said she had a new phone number and for me to call information and get it. And that she’d leave the next day with me for LA. So I called information but no Gina Mince.

A year later I learned it was Ninci, not Mince.

Glazer: Time Traveling @ Shawnee Mission East w/ Conan Star

High School revisited…

How long’s it been since you walked the halls of your old high school? Time moves faster than we think it does. I graduated Shawnee Mission East in the 1970’s and didn’t fully realize it had been three decades since I’d been in my old haunt.

Thanks to my former girlfriend and friend Sandahl Bergman I got to relive my fun days of teenage drama one more time this past weekend.

Sandhal was in town for a special SME dinner and awards program honoring her as one of the all-time female film stars from this area. She graduated from East. In fact she went straight to Broadway and then Hollywood after senior year. No time for college, which she says would have been nice. She couldn’t pass up the big career, she explained in her speech to students, families and teachers at the special event.

Glazer: Bodies Unrevealed, Bring Bin Laden Death Video & Pics to Union Station

Maybe Osama bin Laden will end up in Vegas in the Bodies Revealed Show…

Maybe he’ll come to Union Station. But right now he ain’t going anywhere. I know he’s buried at sea. The President has decided its a no go on showing photos or video from Bin Laden’s death day.

So here come even more people, not only in the Middle East, but all around the world questioning the entire event.

Our government explains it this way: "We buried him at sea to get him put away within 24 hours to be respectful of Muslim religious rights."  We also did it that way so there would be no grave site. To not let him to become a martyr with a shrine. And we’re not showing photos or video cause well, hmmm…."Don’t need to spike the ball," Obama says.

I think we can all see the logic to that point.

Glazer: Osama bin Laden Killing Asserts US World Dominance

Not since Adolf Hitler has the death of one man been so well received by this nation...

Osama bin Laden is dead, and we’re all smiling as we should be at this news.

Once again the United States demonstrated, "Don’t jack with Us! We will get you in the end."  And we did just that. Yes, it makes us all proud. Kinda weird, cheering for someone to get his head blown off. But Osama earned it. A real maniac that wanted all Americans, Christians, Jews and Israelis dead or destroyed.

Well, he got his and good.

Glazer: Chiefs Draft Looks Good on Paper, Tough Year Ahead

Well, give Chiefs GM Scott Piolli and Head Coach Todd Haley credit…

They drafter players in all areas of  the Chiefs most needed spots. As with any draft it will be a couple of seasons before we know if this was a good one – maybe a great one.

As we all know the Chiefs receiving group was non-existent.

Other than DBowe we have almost nobody. If The franchise, quarterback Matt Casell is to have any success he will need somebody to throw to.

Glazer: Can Hell Bar Follow Johnny Dare’s Footsteps & Live to Tell Story?

I see that the old Stanford‘s and Johnny Dare’s is reopening this weekend as the Hell Bar.

I wish them luck. I really do. They’re gonna need it. Having done this with Dare seven years ago, I learned a lot about the biker bar biz.

First off, Westport’s a tough, tough nut right now.

We all know why.

Glazer: Here We Go Again, Another Royals Pain In The…

Well, Royals Fans that was fast.

Nice start, some hope even, then the losing streak. Yes, I’m afraid the jury is once again marching in with the verdict: Guilty. Some improvement but not enough to go above .500 or compete really.

Man, over in April – AGAIN!
