New Jack City: Tempting ‘Carla’ Dating Dilemma Divined

As promised here’s the conclusion to my Carla dating adventure…

And while it may not be very exciting or juicy, the curtain has come down on the short lived summer fling.

To recap, an acquaintance tried to fix me up with a dental hygienist earlier this summer.
‘Carla’ (not her real name) had fallen on hard times. Her hours  had been cut at the dental office and she was still supporting her kid.

So to supplement her now meager income she apparently was “seeing a few male friends.”
Translation, a date for dinner and then maybe a special later date which would include a gratuity—making those friends, including possibly me, into sugar daddies.

Glazer: Everyone Wants Pioli Gone, but Chiefs in Store for Years of Losing

Well for once all of the media that matters said the same thing today…

FIRE SCOTT PIOLI.

I looked at the Kansas City Star this morning and both columnists, Kent Babb and Sam Mellinger echoed what I wrote yesterday. This team goes nowhere with its current general manager, Scott Pioli.

And no, I don’t think they read my story and got the idea from me. Both guys are in a bad spot, as are the radio sports shows. The Chiefs spend money with all these outlets – big money. Just as important, all these folks need access to players, coaches and even the big guy, Pioli. With the exception of Babb, who is bailing on the Star very soon.

So it’s not that easy to call for the King’s firing just two games into the regular season.

Starbeams: Drunk Teens, Romney Does BBQ, Rockfest Does Drano & Fish Sex

Police are cracking down on teenagers drinking alcohol and causing trouble in the parking lot at Kauffman Stadium.  Their excuse?  They’re Royals fans.

Mitt Romney made an unscheduled pit-stop at KCI Sunday.  His flight was diverted because of a crash in Colorado.  Romney dined on Fiorella’s Jack Stack BBQ which was delivered to his plane.  In fact, he liked it so much…don’t be surprised to see Romney’s Jack Stack BBQ in the near future.

Glazer: R.I.P. 2012 Chiefs, Now Would Somebody Please Fire Scott Pioli?

The Chiefs now officially THE WORST TEAM IN THE NFL and are unwatchable…

Back-to-back blowouts. Crushed again. They’re worse than last year’s terrible team. Remember this, “Man we got our guys back, Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles, the tight end nobody gives a crap about. All that noise.

Remember, I was the guy bringing you the bad news early: the Chiefs stink again.

I was watching the destruction of a poorly coached, poorly led Chiefs joke of a football team IN the fourth quarter AND THE game had already ended in the first few minutes. Matt THE FRANCHISE had been sacked about six times and we had a quarter to go and were trailing 35-3. Continue reading →

As of today the President Barack Obama has a commanding lead to be re-elected. Get your anger out now because it looks like it’s OVER. The President has a huge lead according to USA Today and the Gallup Poll. It’s 50% for Obama and 44% for Mitt Romney.

Wow, that’s a big gap to cover in five or six weeks.

Donnelly: Sporting Dominates But Needs Late Magic to Salvage Draw Against Houston

Before the game Friday at LIVESTRONG against the Houston Dynamo, about 100 new U.S. citizens were sworn in by a judge on the pitch.

I don’t know if they dialed it up a little for the occasion, but the pregame video and fireworks have gotten a little ridiculous.  I mean, they are entertaining as hell, but how many bombs need to go off, how many rockets need to get launched into the sky, how much smoke needs to fill the confines of LIVESTRONG, how many video montages do we need? 

I mean, that was cool.

As is almost always the case at home, Sporting KC came out at a blistering pace, creating a few decent chances right off the bat.

Glazer: Scribe Saddles Up for Week Two College & Pro Football

Well, we all now know that last week was a great start for your guy, me…

And a huge thank you to the Kansas City Chiefs for my huge winning bet in Las Vegas. However I’m now 4-3 overall for the first two weeks, so lets see if I can improve upon that number.

It’s no secret that our local football teams appear to be the not-ready-for-prime-time players.  As of today, only Kansas State fields a squad that looks like a post season football program. Kansas, Missouri and our Chiefs are barely worth watching, but obviously things can change.

I know, it seems like I hate the Chiefs, but I really don’t.

I just call them as I see them, no sugar added.

Same as with our loser Kansas City Royals baseball team. Maybe one day things will be brighter. Until that day I’ll continue to be disgruntled with these two horrible franchises that don’t seem to care much about their GREAT FANS. Fans who’ve waited decades for a local team that can merely contend for a title.

Leftridge: TV Time: Here Comes Saturday Night Live, for the 37th Time

Each fall, the same things inevitably happen.

The Chiefs begin a noxious, predictably sorrowful descent into mediocrity (or worse) within the first few weeks of the football season.

The Royals close out their otherwise miserable campaign with a deluge of victories that are viewed by virtually no one.

My ridiculous allergies render me unable to taste a bowl of my favorite Halloween mash-up monster cereal “Count BooFrankula.” (Also: the name of the inner-city child I haven’t yet adopted)

And somebody, somewhere—or, realistically speaking, millions of armchair executive TV producers everywhere—make the tired proclamation that, “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE IS DEAD.” (get it? Starbeams: KU Bests MU, Tamba Does Lance, Royals Itch Promotion

U.S. News and World Report released its annual rankings of “Best Colleges” and Mizzou ranked #97.  KU came in just below at #106.  KU defends its inferior score by saying 106 is better than 97 in basketball.

Kansas Speedway has added a road course to bring a six-turn design to the front stretch.  More great news for Kansas City’s African American population.

Tamba Hali says he didn’t like being away from the Chiefs during his one-week suspension from the NFL for substance abuse. He spent his week off qualifying for next year’s Tour de France.

Glazer: Life After (A Pissed Off) Nick Wright on 610 Sports

Nick Wright is alive and well and doing his sportscasts in Houston…

And he’s made it painfully clear he’s very upset that his former boss, Ryan Maguire, did 610 Sports staffers Mark Carman and Jared Carter wrong by dumping them.

Maguire hired a pair of former 810 guys – Josh Vernier and Jay Binkley along with former Chiefs defensive back Jayice Pearson to replace Nick and crew with THE BIG SHOW on 610.

To start with they’re far more traditional than Nick. Wright was moving the chains for a younger audience and bringing himself into the show as a local personality on the rise.

Donnelly: Zusi Impresses as US Dominates in 1-0 Win Over Jamaica

The U.S. Men’s National Team bounced back Tuesday in Columbus with a 1-0 win over an athletic Jamaica squad that beat the Yanks just days earlier in Kingston – their first victory over the US… EVER.

And wouldn’t you know it, front and center was Sporting KC string-puller Graham Zusi, who had his best (by far) game in his young international career.  Zusi got off an opportunistic pot shot that hit the cross bar in the 6th minute, cranked a close range rebound shot off the Jamaican keeper’s foot a few minutes later, and sent a blistering left footed volley just over the bar toward the end of the first half. Glazer: Ad Wars Rage in Presidential Politics & the Winner is….

The presidential television commercials are coming at us like bills in the mail…

We’re on overload.

Mitt Romney not only appears to have the edge in spending on TV advertising, he has it. The Barack Obama group now says it will add a truckload of new ads…starting now.

And now we’re told Obama was able to raise even more bucks than Mitt this past month.

The big difference in the Obama ads being Bill Clinton is on board.
