Shauna: What Not to Wear New Year’s Eve!
New Year’s Eve can be tricky for fashionistas…
It’s either too cold to wear anything short of what an eskimo might find fun and fashionable; snow wrecks your shoes unless you happen to be styling in those oh-so-beautiful waterproof boots ( a side note: no way are Uggs waterproof, so stop wearing them in the snow).
And remember, depending on the dance forum you’ve selected for the evening, short/ too short a skirt could be a huge factor!
With this New Year’s Eve marking the end of the decade, it’s time to let the fashion freedom bells ring and step out in style! Continue reading
Jennifer: A Jewel in Julian Splashes Down in Brookside
My experience at The American Restaurant under chef Celina Tio’s reign was always mediocre at best.
The grandiose nature of the American’s space paired with its unabashedly bold name cast a giant shadow for any chef. Maybe Celina didn’t find inspiration in shadows. When I heard that Tio was opening Julian, a casual joint in the former Joe D’s Wine Bar space in Brookside, I was intrigued. How would she handle the food, the presentation and the atmosphere? The answer: fresh, casual and low key.
Outside the entrance I was greeted by a sad, deflated, rotting pumpkin. My only reaction was the feeling that Julian was too busy putting customers and food first. The rotten pumpkin was a good sign! Continue reading
Will Mrs. Tiger Cash in on Fashion World
Seems like there is a bright side to every story… Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, is learning all about that these days. We’ve all heard the sad and who-knows-what’s-true story involving Tiger, his wife and a very bizarre car crash … Continue reading

With a little over a week until Christmas, your wish has been granted.
Today Chez Elle Creperie and Coffeehouse officially opened to the public. It’s located at the burgeoning crossroads of 17th and Summit, joining local favorites like Westside Local and Bluebird. Ahhh, the first real signs of fall – okay winter if you require snow tasting – have arrived…

This past weekend, most men in Kansas City may have been stuck fending for themselves as wives, girlfriends, mothers and daughters made a pilgrimage to Holiday Mart 2009.

Shauna: Fashion Furries of the World Unite!
We all know Hollywood and fashion trends go hand in hand.
Jennifer Aniston created an entire year of hairdo must-haves, Sex and the City brought about the dreaded UGG, John Travolta gave birth to the white leisure suit in a movie called Saturday Night Fever, and now Hollywood has done it again. It’s reinvented fashion via a wildly popular children’s book called Where the Wild Things Are.
Yup, you read that correctly! Continue reading

Shauna: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Poised for Liftoff
Ah, New York – a city so nice (and full of vice) they named it twice.

When the name Al Roker – the weather dude on NBC’s Today Show – gets dropped, the words “fashion designer” and “clothing line” don’t readily come to mind.
Until NOW!
According to WWD, Roker is in negotiations with Weatherproof (AGAIN!) to create a line of rain coats, trenches, boots, and all weather accessories called Weatherman. Continue reading
