Who will be KC’s next "It Girl"?
For more than three years Holly Starr was Kansas City’s poster child for smoking hot babes. She ruled the nightlife and the media roosts, via her TV hottie gigs on 38 the Spot and was squired at one time by Chiefs quarterback Tyler Thigpen.
In short, Starr was the cure for the common Watson’s Girl.
Then last year Starr did the unthinkable and got married.
The 30-something hottie’s biological clock was ticking hard and she wanted children. To that end, Starr has a two month old daughter and is passing the Channel 38 baton to a playa-to-be-named-later.
But not much later.
38 the Spot is hard at it, searching for Starr’s replacement with it’s officlal "Drive Now Auto Credit Talent Search"
That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, the search for Holly Starr’s replacement is sponsored by a used car dealer.
"38 The Spot is looking for a new host!" reads the station’s Internet come on. "If you have style, charm and a great sense of humor, you could be the new face of 38 The Spot!"

On closer examination, it would appear that Starr could be replaced by a dude. Check out the pic of the applicants that showed up for one of its auditions. And note that it says "individual." Nothing about the gender of the applicants.

thanks for thinking of me, you are right, but KC media sees me as the “likeable bad guy” so in this market, that creates fear. Sadly for me in another big city I could make a living just on my voice and media presence, they get it, we don’t. Yet I am on four to six radio and often TV shows weekly here, as a guest, thats safe I guess. Hah.
Holly Star is a very nice lady. I have known her for a few years. Remember she did this in Vegas as well. Saw it when I was there. I think its wrong to say she is past it, she got married, is having a baby and is still very beautiful. I am a fan. She will be back in some fashion after the baby. Radio was interested in her, but she wasn’t. Her husband is well to do and wants her to be a wife and mother not a TV pitch lady. Holly never said she was a movie star or great actor. She is a good person. Hey wish I had met her a few years ago, maybe she could have saved my ass.

My kiddos and I loved watching Miss Holly on the Simpsons every night, it was our dinner ritual. We even met her once at a Mavericks game, she is such a sweet heart. Kudos to her for having her priorities straight! I’ll bet she is a great mom, and if she ever wants to come back to tv she will be welcomed by many.
Shoes to fill
From a personal standpoint those are tough shoes to fill. I have worked with Holly and found that her beauty is not only skin deep. Many great qualities all wrapped up in one perfect package. Knowledgable and wit to boot. There is no guarantee KC will embrace the person who replaces her. Look at all the anchors, etc that have been in KC forever. Have you seen them on magazine covers and praised in newspaper articles? Hell no. She was in demand but stepped away due to other priorities. Walked away from the limelight and all the perks and even turned down a on going gig with Sports Radio and Johnny Dare. You are right Glazer on all accounts regarding Holly. First time for everything.

Hearne good article about Holly Starr too bad you had to associate it with the low budget antics of trying to find someone to take her place on theSpot. How they ever got her to dothat job I will never know. Seen her in Vegas on tv on a commercial and the bartender said she does a show there and has a good following. It was just recent so she must be back to work there. Got to meet her when she sang at the Royals game and she is very cool. She had to stand right by or seats about 10 minutes before they were ready for her. 38 sucks but Holly made it better. Only watched it when the games were aired tho. Purty gal.
