With businesses dropping like flies, it’s good to get a little affirmative action…
Hey and the Legends in KCK is onto something resembling a mid-depression tear.
“We’re taking over the outdoor deck and patio that used to belong to Margarita Mama’s before they closed earlier this year,” says Stanford & Sons comedy club main man Craig Glazer. “We’re going to give it that West Coast beach look. You know, with the trendy beach drinks that you might get at a bar in San Diego. And we’ll have live DJs playing light dance and rock music on Friday and Saturday nights. You know, like Jack FM.”
Stanford’s new patio will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. on, Glazer says.
“It’s a pretty eye-catching spot right next to Dave & Buster’s,” Glazer says. “And it has a nice view of the fireworks displays after all the T-Bones games.”
The move complements Legends additions by the growing KC Hopps empire. They include Los Cabos, a Mexican restaurant and bar in the space formerly occupied by Corona Cantina that is expected to open in early May and Wild Fire a steak joint slated to replace the Saddle Ranch early this summer. The former Margarita Mama’s will morph into part sports bar (Cleats) and part country western dance club (Flipflops) in late May.
Wildest wild card of all:late this fall a biker bar concept, Orange County Chopper will take over a space slated for Coyote Ugly.

Hearne,
You might want to ask some of your copy-editing buddies from The Star about the difference between “compliment” and “complement”

Wait, KC Hopps is buying properties out at the Legends? That’s interesting – had no idea they were expanding that much.
