Kansas City’s summer concert season kicked off in style Saturday with a trio of sold out outdoor concerts. The Killers at Sandstone, Cake at the Crossroads and Cross Canadian Ragweed at the Beaumont Club in Westport’s new “backyard” went head-to-head with capacity crowds.
“It was a great night for Kansas City, I’m so happy,” says promoter Jeff Fortier. “Three Kansas City venues – all locally owned – sold out last night, and that says a lot for this summer. That doesn’t mean there won’t be some conflicts this summer, but… It’s exciting and it’s good for the community.”

Fortier…for-tee-yay. Isn’t he the little hippy dude that got beat up by a headbanger band at the River Market a while back? People with French sounding names should be beaten.
