Jason Whitlock has NO POWER to force anyone to do anything. He’s useless and lacks the balls, courage and conviction to push any buttons. If he is as good of a writer as he thinks he is he would have been out of here long ago. The token is broken.

Whitlock’s column is an example of a media gone soft. Coaches closing practice, or restricting media access, is hardly a new phenomenon. I’ve covered teams whose coaches did that, and still was adequately able to report on those teams through the sources I had cultivated within the organization, especially those players and assistants willing to tell me things off the record that I could pursue for on-the-record comments from others. It’s called working one’s sources, the operative word being “working” — something Whitlock’s not been required to do for years.

WHERE’S HILLMAN? should be gone. Royals can’t
waste another season and this guy is a complete
loser when it comes to putting a team together.
WHERE’S BLOOMQUIST? on the bench? are you kidding. The only win in the last series and
bloomy does great? Oh sure. Put in pena jr.
or some other 200 hitter. Hillman must go!
WHERE’S GUILLEN? SUCKING MILLIONS OUT OF
    GLASS’S POCKET.
Where’s Seitzer? Playing make believe as a
hitting coach. How did he get this job.
Friendof bretts? Sure, if you are old, bad at
your job, can’t coach or can’t analayze a
    game but you’re a friend of bretts…you’re
    employed by the royals.
If things don’t change, the dayton moore
    experiment must end.
Was this team the best the royals could put
together. Seitzer and hillman were not the
    best the royals could do.
When will glass end the experiment and realize
his employees can’t determine talent on a
    baseball field.

I just don’t see shutting the media out as a bad business decision by Haley/Pioli.

People are not going to stop paying attention or getting excited about the Chiefs just because local media has limited access. There are plenty of disucssions and issues to be hashed out over the next few months. The media whining about limited access is the least of fans’ worries.

What are we really missing out on? Mostly just innocuous player/coach interviews talking about how excited everyone is. The only good that comes out of it this time of year for the media is when a player says things he shouldn’t – which is what they want to avoid. Local media is just dying to hear a Chiefs player slip up and say Haley is a class A jerk.

We knew this would be the model coming in and fans expect it. After about 7 months of this, the media is beside itself.

And just because local media doesn’t have access doesn’t mean ticket sales will go down. You claim the media is the same as a free promotion department – and that’s exactly how Scott/Todd is treating them.

Whitlock is the best there is. The best there was. And the best there ever will be in Kansas City.

    John,

I think you are leaving out a word in each of your sentences. The best _____ there is. The best _____ there ever was etc….

When a guy has to steal a professional wrestlers line we know he lacks originality.
