HILLMAN FINALLY WAKES UP!
Whats this guy been doing with bloomquist?
The best player on the team and hillman is
still platooning him. Stick him somewhere.
SS maybe. He can’t hurt you too much defensively
and he’s hot hot hot at the plate and he can
run (unlike all the other starters).
Today hillman lets guillen rest or take the
guy out> Whats this about? The 13 million dollar
player needs a day off? Give it to him October
2009 when he’s on his way to another team.
He puts bloomquist in right and hernandez
at ss and he blows the first grounder to him.
You sit out a 270 hitter…bring in a ss
who can’t hit his weight and move bloomquist
to right.
Hilman can win in spite of himself against really
bad teams but as long as glassis stuffing his
pockets with cash they all could care less.
60-70K for arizona…100K for st. louis and
you’re almost into july…glass is jacking off
thinking about all that cash coming in…hey…
it just like selling chinese crap at walmart
and making billions!
I said a month ago hillman should go. This guy
on 610 should have listened to me a month ago.
He’s not the first person to call for hillman
to go. I was!
Dexter Morgan
Somebody was tuned in to 610AM quite a bit this past week.
JS
I think you could bring the best manager ever to this team and it is not going to win. Although Trey Hillman at this point does not impress me as a manager. I think he isn’t the best at strategy and his manipulation of the lineup every day drives me crazy. I say give him until the end of the season and make the call. We need better players in the field. The pitching is good to great at times but 1-9 this lineup is terrible both defensively and offensively. A team like this would cause most managers to get fired.
Ron
Wow. I’m an avid Royals fan, and listen/watch every game I can. And here it is, Monday morning and this is the first I heard of this guy calling for Hillman’s job. 610 is so irrelevent. Is anybody listening?
This leads to another rant I have (my apologies). Since the Royals moved to 610, the broadcast has got to hell. Moving Bob Davis to the radio booth has to be the worst move ever made. Davis doing baseball is like fingernails on the chalkboard. Stick to the Jayhawks, Bob. And why does the audio cut out periodically on every broadcast? They’ve had that problem since they moved over to Entercom. In 2 years, they couldn’t fix that?
I know 810 was losing its shirt on the Royals, but I would give anything to have them back.
Who’s with me?!?! 🙂

610 Weekly by Greg Hall….
SM
It’s a typical Nick Wright move. Make an over-the-top declaration but fail to support it with any logic or reason. His continued lack of insight, and preparation, is staggering.
Paul
Does anybody REALLY care what Nick Wright has to say about ANYTHING???
smartman
Greg: who are your Top 5 white NBA players? AND Do you think they could beat your current 5?
I’ll take my Top 4 White Celtics over your ballers any day. Cowens, Bird, Havlicek, Westphal and I’ll let you pick the 5th Celt. Whose it gonna be?
Luthur
I think I read more about 610 here than I spend time listening to that station.
christina
Jose Guillen=Juan Gonzalez
And I lament every day, that we could have had Raul…..sighhhhhh
Jim Rome
Nick Wright is the reason why no one listens to 610. The guy is a loser and if anyone listens to his show or 610 their losers as well.
petomane
If you get rid of Hillman you need to get Buck Showalter
greg
smartman,
I grew up rooting for the Celtics and wavered only slightly during Dr. J’s 76ers years. Kevin McHale HAS to be on your all-white Celtic team. A buddy of mine ran into him in a pickup game in Minneapolis shortly after McHale retired. He said McHale played it like it was game seven against the Lakers. Loved Hondo’s game but he’s struggling to get into my top 10 NBA whiteys.
Top 5 non-Celtic Whiteys: Jerry West, Pistol Pete, John Stockton, Bill Laimbeer and Rick Barry. Let’s lace ’em up!
craig glazer
Nick Wright does prepare for each show, he sounds like the young inspired voice that he is…610 like 810 is in a tough spot, we have two really bad pro teams…so you have to sell the ‘how do we fix it’ on a daily bases…Nick is trying to do just that….with the Chiefs new management things look better, however this will be a long pre season type year for the Chiefs to see what they have for the ‘future’ again, boy is that getting old…we are always building for the future….last place teams have only that to sell and new or redone stadiums…so Nick is doing what he has to for now….winning changes all this, but when you win….there is far less to talk about, hmmmmmm…
Arte
Greg,
Even though his NBA career was marked by injury, there was never a center more fun to watch than Bill Walton in 1977. Passing, shooting; he actually ran the offense from the post-he was fun to watch. I’ll take him over Bill Laimbeer.
greg
Arte,
I would have Walton on my list too but I was picking all non-Celtics white guys. Despite his injuries, he was the best passing big man I ever saw play.
A guy who probably deserves mention is Dave DeBusschere of the Pistons and Knicks. He even pitched for the White Sox in 1962 & ’63.
tibor
Arvydas Sabonis was the best passing big man, too bad he didn’t get to the NBA before his knee and ankle rotted away.
Ptolemy
Top 5 NBA whites: Bill Walton, John Stockton, Maravich, Bird, McHale.
Top 5 NBA Light-Skinned Blacks (or dark-skinned whites): Maurice Lucas, Dennis Johnson, Wes Unseld, Jason Kidd, Tim Duncan
Top 5 NBA Blacks: David Thompson, Oscar Robertson, Jordan, Shaq, Kobe.
Top 5 All-Time Irrespective of Skin Color: Russell, Wilt, Maravich, Bird, Magic.
Issue settled.
The Donger
DA woudn’t come back here… South Beach vs. KC???
MSNBC on Lifesupport
This is the biggest laugh in Greg’s whole re-cap:
greg
“David T with 73? Whoooeeee!”
Iceman
Ptolemy,
Thanks for the recall of the Skywalker — a legendary NBAer.
Russell could eat glass but his legacy more than any superstar’s benefited from being around greatness. His shot was uglier than Henry Finkel.
Uncle Dick
Walton was indeed a great passer. I was in LA a couple of weeks ago and saw him at a party. He passed a bong with one hand, had a roach clip in the other while holding a doobie in his mouth and never missed a hit.
Hipity Hop
Nick Wright makes me sick. I hope he gets fired soon.
810 Dominates
610 is irrelevant is KC. Nick Wright=Dumbass!
MoCrash
Russell was the best NBA player I ever saw, simply by the way he could dominate a game — especially on defense. Jordan is a close, close second. Bryant is a better shooter than the other two, but his all-around game isn’t as good. A definitely Hall of Famer, though, and the best player of the current era.
Nick Who? I actually listened to this dope for about 30 minutes one day, and his rant du jour didn’t make a lick of sense (can’t recall what it was about, but about the same silly tripe one gets from the a hundred other hotshots). I give KK a lot of grief, because I think he’s a Grade A horse’s patoot, but at least he runs a quality show with halfway intelligent discussion. From what I’ve heard of 610ers like Wright and Anderson is low-grade rant which is easily available from almost any market’s sports yakkers — PTI without the production values.
rick
Let’s see. 610 has the Royals. But they aren’t afraid to criticize them nor do they just kiss up to them. The last big story broken on the radio was…oh yeah 610 and the George Brett rant. Nick Wright of 610 boldly calls for Trey’s dismissal. 610 is the radio station that has the nationally known Jim Rome on it. Gee, I think I know why Greg is listening to them. Though I do like Soren’s deal where he visits radio broadcasters from around the country and get their takes. Bottom line 610 appears to have more substance then 810. I personally like national sports so i listen to 1510 in the morning.
rick
Any discussion of great NBA players should include one of the few players to average over 20 points a game for their first ten straight seasons. Mitch Richmond. It wasn’t until Kobe’s 4th year that he averaged at least 20 points a game. Mitch did it as a rookie averaging 22 points in 79 games. One of the greats.
rick
DA for Roger??? No comparison. DA created a unique connection with his audience. And don’t we miss Crazy Ray?
Greg-Kareem Rush was not a top five player.
I got so sick of ABC broadcasters telling me how great Kobe was. The same Kobe that was missing free throws and getting shots blocked.
rick
What about Bob Cosey?
OlatheCat
It’s funny you said that Moore forced the Glass family to “anti up” when you meant “ante up.” Quite the faux pas!
Great that you mention Pistol Pete. I am too young to have watched him live, but my Dad always calls him one of the greats. Definitely a top five player.
greg
Olathe Cat,
Sometimes you get lucky even w/ a typo.
SI ran a story about Pitol when I was in seventh grade. It talked about all the drills his dad and coach at LSU, Press, had him do as a kid to improve his ball handling abilities. I spent hours trying to duplicate them on our front sidewalk and in the school yard. One drill I never even attempted was where his dad would drive him around town and have him dribble a ball while hanging out the car’s passenger window — over railroad ties and anything else on the road.
Under50listener
Nick Wright is a young talent whose just a bit over-the-top on his takes some times. He’s by far the most talented and entertaining sports talk show host in KC. Old yaks just don’t like some young up and coming kid making a name for himself. He’ll be national within 10 years. bet on that.
