That is until four years ago when former NKC mayor Gene Bruns masterminded closing the Opry’s city-owned home base for improvements. But instead of quickly completing a redo as planned, the weeks turned into months, the months into years before the city finally decided to sell it to Screenland main man Butch Rigby. Rigby plowed $1.5 million into the project and reopened it as the Screenland Armour last year.
Net result: the sale and transformation rendered main man Byron Jones’s Opry homeless.
