That is why I don’t listen to sports radio. Anyway, when I watch sports, I watch sports. It doesn’t matter who is the reporter or who is broadcasting the game. I’m there for the game. If the Yankee’s and Red Sox are playing, for example, it doesn’t matter who is broadcasting, I’m watching the game.

Political correctness out of control. When the sports networks start putting less attractive and perhaps slightly overweight women on the tube and sidelines I’ll buy into the whole equality thing. Until then it’s all about boners. Roger Ailes at Fox News wrote the book on babes, boners and news. Hard to find a segment in society outside of academia where brains and intellectual horsepower are more valued than looks.

I think C&C would have been better off just saying that the reason Erin Andrews, Rachel Nichols, and such have their jobs is because of their looks. It appears ESPN only thinks a woman is qualified for a sideline job is based on her looks. Does anyone know of any average to below average woman working the sidelines? I can’t think of any.

Normally I want to be as much of a pig as the next guy. Yes, I would rather watch Erin Andrews on the sideline than Holly Rowe.
But I would much rather listen to Pam Ward call a Big 10 game than Brent Musburger because she is BETTER at it. Forget the gender – I don’t want to listen to schmaltzy banter from Musburger or Vin Scully or any other doofis who thinks Shakespearean quotes need to be dropped in between innings or quarters.

C&C hit the nail on the head. They expressed what most of us feel. As Bob said, how many ugly women sportscasters roam the sidelines? Exactly, they are all lookers with hot bodies and we don’t give a shit what they have to say.
ESPN understands this and knows the best way to gain our interest is to put a hot chick in front of us. They add absolutely nothing to the game and never will. I Love women but I don’t want women to talk to me about football.

Television values looks, but in radio ability counts for more. While Chris and the Cowboy are slinging yak hash in the sticks, Suzyn Waldman (no looker, as if that matters) teams with John Sterling for play-by-play of Yankees baseball, and — as I’ve noticed while listening on XM — is very knowledgable. My prediction: Waldman will still be with the Yankees 10 years from now; by then, C&C will not only not be together (unless they have a deeper relationship than we realize), nobody will know exactly where they are — assuming they can become more obscure than they are already.
This ain’t about being PC; it’s about being a thinking, mature adult. C&C failed that standard.

One other point: I wonder if those nitwits even bothered to take any significant time to criticize the scum which violated this woman’s privacy and the media outlets which profited from that outrage. And for whatever her merits or faults as a sideline reporter, the fact is she is a working, credentialed professional — who is on the road doing her job. Reasonable people have some empathy for a colleague who has been violated; only stooges respond to someone who has been bonked over the head by poking out the eyes.

Good grief Hall, serving up a big heap of righteous indignation on this one, huh? C&C may be incredibly mediocre radio hosts, and that’s a generous description, but how is what they said offensive?
How is what they said any different than a black man saying he doesn’t want to hear a white guy sing the blues? Does that make the black guy racist for having a preference? And in the end, isn’t that preference well founded?
I never get how people can be so put out and offended by someone who states their opinion on something. That’s all this is – a couple of guys stating an opinion. Are they intelligent for doing it on the radio where thousands of people who are “upset” by their comments can publicly judge and ridicule them? Well considering you have just contributed to a round of free advertising for their show by posting this column, I’d say directly or indirectly yes, it seems to be working out alright for them so far.
But pull the reins in a little on your exasperation, it makes you come off like a big pussy. I don’t think a couple of humdrum hacks on Kansas City sports radio are going to put a dent in that big progressive women’s sportscaster movement you seem so worried about. Radio in this town evaporates faster than a Royals lead in the 8th inning.

As a matter of fact McCrash, they did spend time discussing how Erin was violated and it was totally wrong and how the person that did this was such a low life.
The discussion changed to not wanting to hear women broadcast sports when the topic came up that it could possibly damage her career and they responded.
As Dexter pointed out, this is only opinion, one that many of us males share. Sure we don’t mind looking at Erin, but put an ugly in there doing her job and see what kind of comments you find on message boards.
I do not believe it is sexist to prefer a man’s input on a man’s sport. Besides, it made for entertaining radio during the most boring and uneventful time in sports. Isn’t that what makes people want to listen? Being politically correct makes for boring radio.
