This just in-funny guy Rob Schneider has agreed to a 3-day engagement Stanford & Sons at the Legends...
“I pulled off a coup,” says Stanford’s main man Craig Glazer. “That’ll be the biggest comedy show of the year here – he’s never played Kansas City. He’s doing about 10 club dates around the country.”
The reason Schneider opted to play small clubs rather than larger venues like the Midland?
“He could do theaters if he wanted to but he’s getting ready for this big movie with Adam Sandler,” Glazer explains. “And it’s called ‘leg-stretching.’ So instead of a big audience at the Midland, they get in a smaller venue where they can try a lot more new material and they’re not under the pressure to do quite as tailored a show.
“Ten years ago I met a guy in L.A. named Damon Wayans who also had never played Kansas City. And he’d been retired in the mid- late 90s and then in the early 2000s decided to come back. He’d been offered a television series by ABC that became a hit – My Wife and Kids – and he wanted to get back out and try new material around the country to see what would work and what wouldn’t. Not just do his In Living Color material. He felt just like Rob, that he wanted to try other stuff.”
Schneider will perform five shows at Stanford’s April 22-24th. Tickets start at $20 for general admission and top out at $35 for VIP seating and go on sale tomorrow morning at Stanford’s. Fellow Saturday Night Live alum Jeff Richards – aka the “Drunk Girl” will open.
“For me this show has that wow factor,” Glazer says. “Rob’s a big star and he’s doing a comedy club – kind of like when we had Lewis Black two years ago.”

“Rob
craig glazer
Shmo Joel, let check out IMDB.com and see what a big star Rob isn’t, he has 30 movies and seven since 07…oh yeah and a couple of small time films like The WaterBoy, Duce Bigalow one and two..he was so crappy they did two….He co stars with Sandler in his next film this summer..and he sucked so bad he was a regular on Sat.Live…Shmo Joel, you remind me of when I got into it with radio host Mike Murphy when he once said, boy we got all these has beens here like Tommy Chong,Jimmy Walker and Suzanne Summers,(this was ten years back) I called in and said “you know what Mike those are household names…years of fans, articles, radio,tv and so on, nationally and around the world…Mike its better to be a has been then a never was…who’s heard of you outside of this area? Or in the east or west coast..nobody” so Shmo Joel…please don’t be wrong and loud about it…YES ROB IS A BIG STAR, TRUE THAT.
Go
congrats on the booking, you will do good biz those nights, good job.

The Wikipedia article on Deuce Bigalow 2 has the following:
“Roger Ebert gave this film a very rare “zero star” rating, calling it “aggressively bad, as if it wants to cause suffering to the audience.”[2] He ranked it as the worst film of 2005, and ultimately included this movie in his most hated films list.[3] On the television show Ebert & Roeper, Richard Roeper called the film “the cinematic equivalent of a bunch of 13 year old boys in a locker room repeating dirty phrases they’ve just learned.””
On the plus side, the film made about 2X what it cost to make, so at least there’s that.
People remember Rob Schneider for probably 2 things:
“You can do it!”
and
“Makin’ copies..”
The only reason he’s still making movies at all is that Sandler brings his buddies along for every comedy he makes.
Not saying I haven’t laughed at the guy’s stuff a time or two, but calling him a big star is a big of an exaggeration.

It never fails to amaze me how some people in this town have to take a shot at someone just because they can. Congrats Craig, every show will sell out. Another feather in your cap. I suppose Stanford’s has been around for over thirty years because no one goes there. Since he’s a freakin’ comedy expert, book Joel and let’s see how many folks show up. Other than his mom and grandma, I doubt many people would pay 25 cents to hear his brilliant observastions.

Sounds like good entertainment to me.
Damon Wayans was the best show I ever saw at Stanfords.
Would love to see any of the guys from tough crowd
Colin Quin…Todd Glass…Patton Oswalt…Gilrado..
Jeffery Ross.Zack Galfnk…..Would pay $$$

Rob Schneider will be great to see live. If a film critic hates something, it usually means I’ll like it. Of course I’m immature and laugh at fart jokes. Hey Craig Glazier, since I know you read this; will you please please bring “Dr. Dirty” John Valby to town? My friends and I alone will sell the place out. He needs to come to KC bad. Feel free to reply to this here. Thanks
Yaba
YOU CAN DO IT !!!
SM
Did somebody really write that Rob Schneider could do the Midland? Really? Ten years ago he might have filled half of the Midland.
He’s a name, and a good get for Craig, but don’t give us the b/s about larger venues.
JOJO
It appears that rob’s show isnt doing so well..
tickets are not going so well, most of his
shows are having empty seats and apparently
his stand up really isn’t that good according
critics. In mn. his show isnt sold out and
his upcoming shows are having a tough time
selling tickets. Proably the economy.
One critic said the show was
really slow. Dont’ know much about comedy..
I always hit 3 or 4 comedy shows when in vegas..
but lots of guyus good on film bomb in
person.
JOJO
but this is kc and people here tend to jump
on anyone with a name. People here will buy
anything as longas its cheap.
I’ve seen robs movies and wihtout a tight
script he’s horrible. But he has a name
and people will still come. and since theres
nothing else going on the joint should be
busy.
Right now theres not much in comedy thats
big ticket. If people get excited about a
second rate comic like rob you kinow theres
not much quality going around.
Glazer…whats up with eisner..whatsup with
the film…you and hearne have hyped it but
everytime i ask for updates theres nothing.
We are looking forward to this …whats
the story?
craig glazer
Update, Rob has not been doing standup, so I don’t know any clubs where they have numbers this all starts in March in ten clubs around the country. His co star is Jeff Ricards(drunk girl) also from Sat Live. Being in 30 or so movies says it all, the guys a ‘player’ and most the films did well at box, not all, but thats always the case with people who do lots of work.
The ‘wow’ is as explained, he’s a big name who has never been to KC, though there are other bigger names in comedy like Lewis Black, Cable Guy,Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, Mencia..all of whon did their first show in KC with us, but they all have been back to KC many times,Midland,Uptown,Improv,Stanfords, so though they are popular, its not as much new news, don’t get me wrong, love to have any of those guys back.
I remember when I brought Pauley Shore in l998, it was off the hook, chain, you name it…crazy energy…and Pauley is well more a star then a great comic, but everyone had fun…he is “The Wessel” and yes, he’s not as big as he once was, but still fun to see a star up close and even meet them. Its my job to bring in the names available, especially ones with lots of credits..sometimes its not as good as others. Example we did Arsenio Hall, not a good guy, shows were just ok. Never back here or anywhere in KC. But he was a big name.
Jo Jo on the movie, when you sell a book/script, next step is to get the ‘movie writer’ we did that with Dan Gordon. Then you get a director, we’ve just done that, and a director of great interest. He does his notes(we are almost done with that) and thats the “shooting script” which also changes with as actors come on board. Then you complete your deal with studio for ‘commencement of principal photography’ get a start date and shoot, you also have to have your two stars attached with offers…so its a process that usually takes at least a year or more from start…this project, so far, has moved at lightening speed. If it continues at this pace we will shoot this summer, movie out likely at next xmas to summer, thats very very fast for a studio A movie…and thats what it is. We will announce director and so on..when it is allowed, I know who the director is and so forth, but its their right to do initial announcement in the press, not mine. So its rolliing folks and soon we will give you more information. But as here explained its a process.
rick
Explain Arsenio not a good guy?
