KCPD Chief Apologizes to Channel 9 Anchor Kris Ketz, Salutes KCC

As evidenced by KCC’s breaking news over the weekend that it was Kansas City Missouri police chief Jim Corwin who shot KMBC TV ancho Kris Ketz lights out early on in of Saturday’s News versus Blues – local media against the cops dodge ball charity game at St. Pius High School.

Even organizer KC police Capt. Rick Smith – Corwin’s teammate – didn’t know until told by KCC hours later, that it was the Big Chief who took out Ketz, driving him from the field of combat early -on in search of TLC and better Band-Aids.

    Channel 5 took some vid and the coppers, I think. But as the Chief pointed out on his blog, a number of the players were undercover cops and they don’t want photos of them getting out. Come to think of it, if you’re undercover what are you doing playing ball with the media in front of the public in the first place? Seems needlessly risky.

    Don’t worry about the cops blowing their cover, the only time felons are at St.Pius is to watch their kids play sports.

    Don’t blame Corwin, he went to Winnetonka, where they played dodgeball for keeps. Headshots were not only legal, but encouraged by the coaches.
