Boomtown? More like Boom-Boom town. I now see why your last blog attempt failed. Your premise and conclusions are delusional.
A better idea would be to find a Harvey Milk-like politician to run for Mayor and lead us out of the Funk.
This would be a good job for Kelly Urich though.

Joe,
Thank you for writing such a spirited and fiery editorial. We here in Key West applaud Kansas City’s dedication and commitment to Pride and the rights of its LGBT constituents.
As for our not having a gay czar in Key West, this is true. However, for the record, in 1983 we did elect the first openly gay mayor in the US, Richard Heyman. Sort of the same but even better!
Most of our offices here are offices of homosexual affairs in one regard or another. And every other kind of affair, as well. In the year 2000, we declared by proclamation the official city philosophy to be “We are all created equal members of One Human Family”. I don’t know there isn’t home or office on the island that doesn’t have at least 10-15 One Human Family stickers proudly posted.
In other words, Key West is a great place to be gay…and everything else! Taa daa!
Lastly, to the suggestion of merriage, I think you are one hilarious writer. The great thing is, the truth makes me laugh.
Keep up the good work, you are an asset to a place I wouldn’t have thought to visit. Before.

Very cool! I do agree, all it takes is a little creativity and risk taking. Money should be the last thing on our minds.

Awesome. KC Confidential has a new writer… and a great one… I have been recommending this site to friends and they are picking it up. I consider it the online version of Esquire for Kansas Citians..
MandDShagger
Online version of Esquire for Kansas City? Pass the dutchie bro. I want summadat weed?
After the oil slick makes its’ way to Key West and some hurricanes deposit the sludge onshore KC may be far more hospitable to all forms of life than Key West.
I second the nomination of Kelly Urich for Gay Czar. Unfortunately, it ain’t gonna happen. One of the reasons gay life in KC is so good is that gays have assimilated quite well into the culture and contribute to the fabric of our society. Gays in KC aren’t looking for “special” treatment, just a chance to participate.

Joe–
Welcome, my man! Better a Joe than JoJo, I always say.
I liked this post.
Next up, how about commenting on Kraske’s fine piece about Kendrick (I drank the koolaid) Blackwood and Funkhouser.
Brother, now Funk and Gloria are branding themselves as Harry and Bess? I guess Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln wasn’t bad enough, now they feel they must abuse HST’s legacy? Last I checked, Harry never asked heads of state to come out to the house and share chicken dinner in Independence with Bess and his talentless pianist daughter, Margaret.

Lee: Nice suggestion. I pissed my pants laughing at the Harry and Bess comment in Kraske’s column. Unfortunately KCMO is getting the Hiroshima and Nagasaki treatment from these modern day Trumans. Can’t wait for the day that Funk and Gloria show up on HBO’s Real Sex.

Harry Truman never invited heads of state to dinner because he was too busy entertaining the Mafia and Pendergast. The constitution reads, “We the people, for the people…”, it does not read, “We the people, for the people, except gay people…”

Damn, awesome website. I actually came across this on Bing, and I am happy I did. I will definately be returning here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just absorbing as much info as I can at the moment.
Thank You
