HUGE money, billions, is wagered internationally on World Cup. FIFA and the refs are all on the take.
US soccer has as good of a chance of getting equal with the rest of the world as GM does getting even with Ferrari. NEVER gonna happen. If Thomas Mueller was in the US he’d be wasting away at some D1 college. Until US soccer starts picking pups out of the litter at age 10 and grooms them to compete on the global pitch we will suck uber-euro-beaner-Ghana-cock and get our balls kicked every 4 years.

greg, landon donovan separated from bianca kajlich last july and they are now divorced. he gave her a shout out during an interview at the world cup, but there are minimal rumors of them getting back together.
as far as americans disdaining flopping, i guess in the game dr. naismith invented all those defenders who fall like they just got shot when taking a charge were actually run over so hard they couldn’t keep their feet and are not falling to embellish the call. uh, ok.

GH: Barry, thanks for the correction. That is one helluva ex.

sorry Barry, I corrected your above statement:

if you all haven’t seen it, check out “The Two Escobars,” it was one of the 30 for 30’s on ESPN about Pablo Escobar and his influence on the Columbian national team. Crazy stuff.

greg, you don’t know the half of it. in the rest of the world elite soccer players are kind of what rock stars are here. it seems like every one of them hangs out with a super model. for example, wesley sneijder, the star of the netherlands team, is marrying a woman who was named the sexiest woman alive by the dutch edition of fhm magazine. i could go on and on, but just google for “peter crouch” and “girlfriend” and you’ll see what i mean.

Stevo…right on with “the 2 escobars”. Watched it last night. Quite an eye opener. And, even though espn went from must see tv with their old sportcenters (especially Sunday night w/Patrick and Olberman before he went crazy) to absolute crap with guys like Stuart Scott (sorry Greg, he is awful), this 30 for 30 series is quite good. The OJ one was great, so was Ricky Williams. I’m thinking they could put together a pretty good show on Bo Jackson.

The “Guess What Time It Is” get’s my vote. There is much about soccer that I don’t understand, but this is beyond comprehension.

Country size doesn’t really matter when it comes to fielding good soccer teams. I hate this argument. where’s china, india, indonesia, russia…?
what matters is what sport the country’s athletes play from a young age, and what kind of structure lets them mature into professionals.
USA has a strange soccer culture, much different than the rest of the world. To do as well as we do is amazing.

You are an idiot. Your ramblings about soccer are those of a fool. If you are going to write about a sport please atleast learn something about it before you decide to be “Mr. Funny Sports Guy” and give your thoughts on the sport and how it should be ran.

Resources like the one you mentioned here will be very useful to me! I will post a link to this page on my blog. I am sure my visitors will find that very useful.
