I agree with Whitlock, he stays in Cleveland. More important this is the beginning of big sports stars having ‘specials’ on ESPN to sign big contracts…one hour on their childhood, college, pro, family etc…all the time now…if we watch it sells commercials and we do watch…so here we go with more of these…next up..Brett Favre again…

LeBron is just like David Glass. More concerned with money than being a winner. Manute Bol achieved more in his life than LeBron EVER will.

    ___

    GH: Amen to that.

yet another reason to not watch ESPN. This network hasn’t been relevant forever. It’s to sports what MTV is to Music…
no reason in hell to watch this debacle….

Just heard he has a party planned in Miami for tomorrow so, looks like I was wrong, its Miami with Wade and co….so he does want a ring…thats gonna be a tough group, barring injury…

    ___

GH: Craig, I think there is a lot of false info about where LeBron will land floating around that is meant to confuse, distract and add to the ever-growing hype. I almost wonder if LeBron even knows yet where he’s going.

Heard an interesting interview today with regard to economic impact of sports…Super Bowls..final fours..etc.his conclusions were they are not really all that stimulative. He also says that having a Lebron in Cleveland does not increase the economy there rather it just makes you happier. Anymore than if Lebron goes to Miami and you’re unemployed he’s not going to fix that.
Michael Bloomberg offered to change city to LeBronx
    NBA is a circus.

    Go Royals!

MoCrash – the Celtics won because they had Rajon Rondo, James Posey, Glen Davis, Kendrick Perkins, Tony Allen, etc. all as support players that came up BIG. The Heat can’t afford guys as good as that Celtics team had; Wade/Bosh/James are going to have to wait a couple years for some draft picks to pan out, IMO.

i don’t understand the media that is attacking james. he has not said one word about his free agent status in over a year. in fact, he has purposely refused to comment on it because he said he wanted his teammates and the fans to concentrate on the nba season. he was only allowed to talk to teams starting a week ago and today is the first day he can sign with a team. any and all hype that has been generated by this process has emanated somewhere else than james.

according to a report on msnbc, all the proceeds from the tv show tonight, expected to be around $2.5 million, are being donated to his favorite project, the boys and girls clubs. if that’s what a clown is, we should all hope to be fitted with a red nose and big floppy shoes.

Jesus Christ, Greg, you really think JoPo is taking shots at KK? That area is completely, and only, occupied by you.

Let it go, man, let it go.

Whitlock’s been blasting LeBron about calling himself King James. Didn’t Pork Chop start calling himself Big Sexy? Or was it you Greg in the radio booth?

    ___

GH: My name for JW was/is Pork Chop. He is the one who chose the Big Sexy moniker.

I don’t get all the hype over a guy who plays in a sport that’s a distant third in this country. Or is that fourth consitering College football is more popular then pro basketball?

Suddenly that Heat-Thunder preseason game at Sprint looks pretty good. Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Mario, maybe (but probably not) Beasley, Durant, Aldrich, Collison…sell out?

Totally agree with your comment on Manute Bol but as far as money goes…he left an extra year and a max salary in Cleveland. I would say he’s more concerned with winning easy than actually staying in Cleveland and try to accomplish something amazing. Heat are the new Yankees. Even though he had every right to do it, he might have just slammed a nail in the Cavs coffin for the next 20 years.

MoCrash says- ‘Seems like the Celtics did well in 2008 with Garnett, Pierce and Allen.’

dp says- ‘Celtics don’t win that title without HUGE contributions from Rondo, Perkins and Leon Powe.’

Nobody has a clue on how well the new Big III will be until you see their supporting cast. What they have now doesn’t touch Boston’s Big III’s supporting cast.

Gotta defend Simmons here, he knows a TON about the NBA…wrote a great 700+ page book on NBA history.
