Why the surprise at the Star’s lack of vetting this “award”? How can you still have such Great Expectations?

How about some poop on Rod “The Inferno” Anderson?

President Oreo at Oklahoma Joe’s? Once again he’s on the wrong side of public opinion.

Advertorials are indeed bad. Bad, I tell you! Hey, why don’t you write some “stories” about Jardine’s, Stanford’s, Roger the Plumber, Laurenwantstoknow or maybe, I don’t know, the Well?

Editors determined the content … and there were ads on the page … and this differs from any other magazine feature how?

Memo to Rick: look before you leap, maybe. It’s not an editorial page with adjacent ads. It’s a page disguised as editorial that just happens to have what pass for ads. But no actual editorial content, other than basically the list of Best BBQs.
If you wanna compare the standards sellout zines like KC Mag to Vanity Fair and say, “So who in the biz isn’t a whore?” That’s your call. But the Star and local TV didn’t cover this as news and a big win for Oklahoma Joe’s because they thought it was randomly compliled by some intern.

I read the first sentence of this article then realized that it was another Hearne cry fest and didn’t bother with the rest.

Just like every other Herne article. Looking back Herne, maybe you shoulden’t of stolen other reporters stories.

HC: Thanks John, you’re right. It was wrong of me to scoop other newsies. I take em all back!

hearne, why do you think newspapers have food or travel sections? they are some of the lowest read areas in any newspaper. they are there mostly as editorial environment to entice advertisers. so vanity fair ran a barbecue list without an explanation of the criteria they used. big flippin’ deal. unless the barbecue joints paid for placement or ads, how is that any different than dozens of travel and food sections?

i understand your lingering anger over your star dismissal, but ripping them for reporting on a local establishment getting some national pub because you don’t like the methodology the magazine employed is really a stretch.

    Hearne’s pissed that Okie Joe’s won’t
give him VIP cuts in the long line (like
he used to get at Blonde).

Ever since Anthony Bourdain mentioned them, I can’t get in there without there being a huge line.

Oklahoma Joe’s is one of my very favorite BBQs. The issue is, there are many deserving candidates for such a distinction. But sans any clue as to how or why they were chosen – not so much as a mention of some of their top, don’t miss items, this victory rings hollow. It’s simply a little thought out PR schmooze for Vanity Fair, delivered with zero credibility or significance. And lazily reported as if news by you-know-whom

I am unable to comprehend the key reason why every time brad and angelina try to do some thing great, the press give them a really hard time, I really feel sorry for them.
