yost: going nowhere. This guy wasn’t chosen to
manage 20 teams but walks into the royals
head coaching job with a losing record. What
makes moore think he’s smarter than the entire
mlb in picking this guy to manage this team.
    moore: statistically…bettencourt is the worst
the shortstop in the majors. The numbers on
this don’t lie. Yet moore thinks he can take this
guy and make him a star. Moore is a idiot.
The guy who invented the statistical analysis
for baseball players worked right here in kc.
Yet moore and yost pay no attention to these
stats. Thats why we get the left overs.
The royals are like the beggars outside
hereford house (before rod burned it downed)
begging for the meat noone wanted and ate.
The scraps from the plates…thats what the
    royals get.
There will be long losing streaks..many of them.
But I feel it gets back to moore and yost and
the rest of the people who judged the talent on
this team. They’ve been given 210 million dollars…lots of time…and yet they’ve produced nothing for it all.
Scream at glass all you want. He’s given this
idiot midget moore plenty of time to at least
come up with something positive to build on.
But all we hear is wait til 2012…wait til 2015…wait til 2020…but the team has lost an
entire generation of fans who will be hard to
    get back.
Last year…even though we were out of contention we had greinke pitching and he could
draw 30,000 plus. This year it should be an
    empty stadium come august/september.
And they’re running out of free giveaways.
Butler bats? whats next…I’ve got it..
MOORE’S BRAINS…YOU GIVE OUT the heads of
    needles. YOSTS BASEBALL CARDS…OUTLINING
his outstanding managerial career. Maybe even
    minature Bettencourt gloves..because this guy
looks like a fool playing defense…
    I love the royals…i love the stadium…been
to 10 games so far this year…but have reached
the point where it’s not even fun going out to
    the park anymore.
The new marketing department is full of shit…
    nothing new…nothing exciting…and its time
    to clean ship.
We’ve all dreamt of what may have been. Before
the white sox series we dreamed of having a
    huge second half.
But listening to yost you understand these players just don’t give a fuck. There’s no
passion for winning. And yost can’t change that.
    Niether can the midget moore.
It’s time to change…we’ve waited long enough. The same song and dance from management that the players could give a damn.
It’s obvious the players are out for themselves. They aren’t listening to the manager and coaches. And that’s probably why we are struggling.
What does it take to get millionaire ball players to play every play with intensity.
I don’t know. But I do know that yost and
    midget moore can’t do it.
I”m sick of thinking we have to wait 2/3/4/5
    years to even be competitive.
THESE GUYS IN CHARGE NOW HAVE NO PLAN…NO
    IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Glass, Moore, et al continue to ensure that the only real baseball will be played in St Louis and that two thirds of the state of Missouri will be rabid Cardinal fans. At least MLB allows the annual mercy mission by the Cardinals to Kansas City, so they can actually have some fans show up. Too bad it’s mostly Cardinal fans. When will the local rubes in KC go on a mass revolt and totally boycott Glass and the Royals? It’s LONG overdue.

The Cardinals are back in first. I watch most of their games on FS Midwest and not only is the team fun to watch but the announcers are entertaining, unlike loud mouth Davis, humorless Lefebvre, and tongue-tied Splittorf. Denny Matthews would never allow these boring broadcasts if he were alive.

God, I hate it when the stations start with the non-stop Chiefs talk in June and July. And it’s the Royals’ fault.

    FIRE MOORE
    FIRE YOST
    FIRE ALL COACHES
    FIRE ALL MANAGERS
CLOSE DOWN THE MINOR LEAGUE OPERATIONS…
USE THAT MONEY TO BUY ESTABLISHED PLAYERS.
CLOSE DOWN ALL NON ESSENTIAL OPERATIONS…
    THE LATIN OPERATION…TAKE THOSE MILLIONS
    AND USE TOWARD FREE AGENTS.
SELL OR TRADE ALL DRAFT CHOICES…NO MORE
    HIGHLY PAID DRAFT CHOICES….TRADE THEM
    FOR ESTABLISHED PLAYERS…GET CASH…
USE THAT CASH TO GO INTO FREE AGENT
    MARKET FOR PLAYERS…

essentially tell major league baseball tov go
fuck themselves. You’ve played by their rules
and now you’re going to liquidate your assetts
to acquire players. by following this plan
you get established players (no more gambling on
losers out of college/high school who you pay
6 million dollars for to sign)…
You have instant cash….no more minor leagues..
you only bring on players with established
    careers…
if you eliminate the millions spent on worhtless
    draft choices…eliminate omaha/ark. teams
and run the operation with all focus and cash
directed to brining in big names you can put
    together a winning team.
Get a new gm and manager…not some jap manager
or a loser…but established manager that you
    pay well.
With the way the yankees and red sox etc. spend
money you will never compete. Building thru
minors takes too long. cut your losses…focus
on your quickest way to being competitive
and tell baseball that the deck is stacked against you and make decisions for your
    own best financial interest.
IN OTHERT WORDS GLASS NEEDS TO TELL SELIG AND
HIS FRIENDS TO GO FUCK THEMSEVLES…THE ROYALS
(LIKE THE YANKEES) ARE NOW GOING TO PUT THEIR
INTERESTS FIRST AND TELL THE REST OF THESE
RICH EGOTISTICAL OWNERS TO GO FUCK THEMSELVES.

The Cardinals broadcasters are entertaining? You can have all of them. Never has the one of the crown jewels of baseball been so poorly represented. From Harry Caray and Jack Buck to these guys…who NEVER shout up…ick. Too bad there is a delay from the radio…oh, wait, I don’t like those guys either.

By what metric is Betancourt the “worst” SS in the majors, or even AL? His .260 BA is ninth among those with 50 or more GP (14th out of 27 overall in the AL) and .401 slugging percentage is 3rd (6th out of 27). While his .968 fielding percentage is on the low end — although 12 errors isn’t in the awful ranks (remember Berroa? he won 2003 ROY with 24 Es, and Betancourt pro-rates to slightly under that) — Betancourt’s 4.40 range factor is above average and higher than that of Jeter, Izturis, Bartlett and Scutaro. Plus, he’s 6th in the league in double plays turned.

Granted, Betancourt often plays ugly and I think the Royals were wise to use their No. 1 pick on Christian Colon — who looked excellent whenever I saw him on TV — but he’s an adequate SS for a non-contending team, and better than some playing there for contenders. I guess he just rubs some folks the wrong way, but from an objective viewpoint Betancourt is far from the “worst” SS in any area. And considering the nothings the Royals gave up for him, I count this as one of Moore’s smarter transactions; a serviceable everyday SS for a couple of bushers who don’t project to be anything but middle relief, if they ever get to the Show.

Betancourt is not the Royals’ problem, although he is no help in the area where they most need it: clubhouse leadership. Yost talks about changing the “culture,” but who is he going to count on to do it? Greinke, Soria and Butler are the Royals’ most consistently productive players, but they are “the culture” — none have ever played for a winner. Guillen is the veteran, but he’s too much of a flake to lead. Kendall’s a pro’s pro, and he’s helped, but he’s not central to the Royals’ future.

I’ve said from the beginning that Yost was a stop-gap manager, the best one handy when Hillman was sacked. Fact is, there aren’t many managers with successful MLB records floating around available to hire, and most of these are older and more likely interested in a team that is on the cusp of contending sooner than the Royals; the talent already mostly in place, but in need of their professionalism. Further, how many of the most successful managers in the game today didn’t experienced failure first? While Yost has done a decent job in the interim, I think Moore’s early statements that he’d evaluate the position at the end of the season is the wisest approach. But Yost has been an overall plus to this point.

We need a plan when we are ready to really contend (in 4-5 years) so that Greinke won’t already be gone via free agency. We “loan” him New York for 2-3 years right now at his current salary. They agree to pay the 2-3 years at the end of his current contract at the “market price” at that time. Then we have his services when we actually have some talent around him. They get something they need now and everyone wins.

Lay off Caray and Buck. I grew up in StL and thoroughly enjoyed their work. And the fact that they pretty much hated each other only added to the attraction.

Hey turns out Greg hates Kietzman….Sorry but it’s getting really old just quoting things to make fun of KK. You hate 810 you hate Kietz, now that that’s been said try doing something that will actually keep me coming to this site because simply saying I hate kietz and making fun of him is getting really annoying.

Rick M … I think he was taking up for Caray and Buck. I don’t think Caray knew squat about baseball, but he was still fun to listen to. John Rooney is good and Dan McGlothlin is solid. I might agree with randy about some of the rest of them. He probably hates Mike Shannon but I still get a kick out of him … most of the time.
