Where is this from? An email response to what? Maybe someone asked her about it? I don’t know.

A link or explanation would be nice. You call this person (whoever she is) out for lying and you can’t even put two facts together to help set up your own story. You have her dodging questions she was never asked. Did Glazer edit this for you?

You are to journalism what Whitlock is to dieting. Never have the two crossed paths.

Hearne, you have no idea what you’re talking about. The Star sports editor does not make decisions about Whitlock, nor does the person in that job impact him.
Any dealings with Whitlock come from the publisher or editor. Making assumptions without any facts to back them up is flat out wrong — even for a blog. You need to careful about what is casually tossed out on the internet.

Whitlock was tenured at the Star. Tenured like those College Professors that rankle the administrators, while demeaning the students.

His efforts at intellectual congress with the local white power elites, served him well over the early years (In no way should you infer, nor am I implying that he was obsequious, he was not.). Reasonable, thoughtful, middle of the road opinions from a black journalist was no doubt a refreshing, soothing, salve for worried white boys PC trained to be afraid of their own shadows.

Throughout the metropolis, courageous caucasians waited with baited breath to see what “Jason” thought, said or wrote on any given subject, sports, or otherwise. His imprimatur on said subject, granted all us white plebes carte blache to ravage same, within the strict paramaters stated in his column with “people of color” (Radio talking heads can say what they will, Jason’s colums provided many a safe talking point into territories previously unexplored in mixed racial company.)

Having established a local reputation in his early years for unexpected opinion, opinion that frequently mainstreamed with a large segment of KC’s population, he garnered accolades, awards and kudos from unexpected quarters.

No doubt his superiors, bosses, co-workers and fans all thought they had a new and interesting toy/axe to play/grind with.

NFL, not for long. Jason, a young man, achieving success, aquired what seems to be a mandatory accoutrement, a huge fuckin ego. While his columns still titilated, they were more sound and fury, than substance in recent years, and he obviously (Can’t blame him.) wanted to pontificate on more weighty matters on a national stage. No pun intended.

Me personally, I wish him well. Any dialogue from the fourth estate in this town, that actually gets people discussing subjects as opposed to discharging weapons is ok with me.

I also enjoyed his pecadilloes, stupid, accidental, what the heck, I did a lot worse.

So good luck Jason. I would like to think that most of us KC folks wish you well. Some of us don’t, but make no mistake, the ones that hated him, helped him just as much.

    Vias con dios!

Check it: KC COnfidential is a “bottom feeder site.” It says so right here at Deadspin, which I’d always thought was a little bottom-feeder-y myself.

    Short Term Memory
I could have sworn I read where Jason Whitlock would be back in the Star on Sunday. I could swear that it was posted under Hearne’s name. I guess my memory is failing.

I think you’ve risen (or sunk) to your level of incompetence, Mr. Christopher, Jr. All you need is a Hedda Hopper hat collection and you’ll be worth…

What you’re worth now. Nothing. But you’ll have lots of hats.
