The stylized Universal logo at the beginning of the film should have been the tip-off…
This is not your typical summer action-adventure or romantic-comedy.
It’s both—and so much more!
No wonder it was such a hit at the recent COMIC-CON conclave in San Diego.
So how does one describe SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD?
I see it as this summer’s teen angst rock opera.
It’s absurd, refreshing and clever telling the simple story of Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who just met the girl of his dreams Romana Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead.)
There’s just one snag; her seven ex-boyfriends are out to do her new suitor in leaving Pilgrim to resort to new quests of power to destroy them and thereby win over Romano’s charms.
Nobody ever said love would be easy…….
If all that sounds simple—it isn’t, as director Edward Wright (SHAUN OF THE DEAD) paints the goings-on in an original, surreal way that we really haven’t quite seen before.
If there’s a lesson to be learned here from Pilgrim it’s that next time,
