Wow. Who fuckin’ cares about “The Explanation.” Whitlock is a self-important douche bag. I once enjoyed his writing but this little episode makes me wonder about my own taste in reading materials.

610 sports and Nick Wright would eat a fresh pig turd, live and on-air, while describing its firm texture and earthy aroma if it would bring ratings akin to that of Keitzman.

I’m done with the pig turds. Good riddance, Whitlock.

    Good news!
Good news, Jason! Nobody is interested and nobody cares!

The more important question is, “Which website will be foolish enough to pay me $150,000 a year plus benefits, plus an expense account to write a column two or three times a week?”

Anybody got a business model here in 2010 to support that?

    (crickets)

I hope Whilock informs us that he is taking his “talents” to South Beach, and far away from KC.

He’s an irrelevant person who works for a dead media organization.

I can just hear Nick now apologizing to Whitlock about how whitey is keeping him down. I bet Wright bring his knee-pads in for this interview. Incidentally, I always liked Whitlock’s writing and will miss it. He was the only guy who would take on Carl Peterson in print. Nobody else would do it and God knows we needed it here.

I’m getting the feeling The Star is going to regret running bigsexy off.
“The Explanation” JW gonna explain to Nick that he will be the New King of Radio in KC.

I wonder what Whitlock’s “demands” were. Did 610 actually pay for this? Was 810 seriously considered?

Jason really ragged on Maverick Carter for giving Lebron bad advise doing “The Decision” with Jim Gray. I know he’s smart enough to see the irony here in doing a three hour program about himself when a 10 minute radio segment and a post to some blog would suffice.

Maybe I was wrong about you Greg Hall.

Who cares! I feel sorry for anyone who listens to this crap!

Get over it you idiots. Kietz couldn’t find the time to squeeze Jason in during his pizza grilling segments. Nick Wright landing this interview proves once and for all that What’s Wright is #1 and the former king of afternoons in KC has met his demise. I’m sure Kevin’s discussion of the second round of the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx Cup will provide plenty of competition for the Whitlock interview. Awesome job Nick and 610 Sports!

Christopher Hitchens has essophagus cancer. It has metastacized and is in his bones and lymph nodes.

Esteemed and brilliant writer, the world will reduced with his loss.

Whitlock, a modestly qualified sports writer with what seemed to be an edge to us rustic rubes out here in the hinterland, will continue to aspire to stations he isn’t qualified to attain, by way of a dearth of competition.

Here is to Hitchens. Best of the best.

Apollo Belvedere, yes and ratings show that Wright is No. 1 in this town…oh wait he’s been getting killed since April.

Wright should be carefull. Whitlock will replace Wright by the end of football season, if not sooner.

For the ones who are saying “who cares”, why are you fools still talking about Whitlock?

The “answer”: because you can’t help yourself and all of you will be listening, including me.

    Suckers.

Much like the Tony who purports to blog on this website, Nick Wright BORES Me to no end. That’s very similar to Whitlock over the years, although at least I credit Whitlock (much unlike Tony and Nick Wright) with occasionally expressing an excellent piece that gives many of us reason to think, question, and even smile. For Whitlock, I have always had a certain measure of respect (sorry Jeeves to end another sentence on a preposition). But as to Tony and Nick: No respect from me. Respect is earned, not bestowed. And when you thoroughly go around boring me all the time, no respect will come.

I guess it’s being called “The Explanation” because the FCC would fine 610 for using its proper title, “The Bullshit.”

Who is this Nick Wright character? does he really have a radio show?

I wouldn’t mind hearing some of it but won’t be able to. Sure wish radio had DVR. (Ever be driving down the road and say to yourself, “did I just hear that?” and want to rewind?)

Apollo – You really said “Nick Wright landing the interview”? You realize Nick didn’t do anything here. Jason wanted to get paid and 610 paid him…Nick didn’t do anything but hang on the corner with his homies. 810 wasn’t going to pay for some ass clown to come on and take over the airwaves for 3 hours…including a full hour of Quitlock by himself.

You congratulating Nick is as asinine as nick claiming he had a ratings boost and ignoring the fact that opening day of the royals drew a 25 at least…that can carry you for a month. Nick isn’t doing anything but letting Quitlock take over his show…yep let’s congratulate somebody who can’t get ratings himself so he gives his show to somebody to help him

The Truth – You said 810 wasn’t going to pay for some ass clown to come over the air yet they paid out their ass for the worthless Todd Haley press conferences. “Let’s keep it to football, Gentlemen… but I’m not answering any football questions”.

Like it or not, Nick was able to get this interview. Jason chose to go on with someone he doesn’t even like rather than go on with KK and put up with his 30 minute pizza grilling spots and Ford dealership reads.

You NOT congratulating Nick is as asinine as 810 claiming that Between the Lines is KC’s favorite sports show. Nick works his ass off to give his listeners 45-50 minutes/hour of sports coverage whereas KK would gladly spend his precious airtime giving praise to his sponsors or some irrelevant Nationwide Tour golf event.

Whitlock tweeted himself that he wanted 810 but they wouldn’t give him the 8-11 slot he wanted (shocking Big Lazy didn’t want to get up early and go on at 7)
It’s funny that the same station that pulled him off their air in the middle of a shift is bending over and giving him three hours to promote himself. Wright did nothing her except be desperate enough to let him hijack his show for three hours….and on a Friday before a Chiefs game.
This is the same Wright who said he would be at Chiefs camp everyday then hurt his shoulder playing flag football back home. Guess the weekends don’t count as everyday. Plus doign his show everyday from a bar allowed him to see what…4 practices. Great coverage. He was really only there to hear himself talk at the press conference.
Lots of talk…just like when he celebrated his ratings win in the middle of the 3rd inning only to see KK come back and beat him with a trumped up story. Hes been curiously mum on the issue since.

He got a 2.1 million dollar 3 year contract from fox…lots of shit writers get paid like that…..riiight
    ______________
HC: Again, as Glazer – who thinks that number is totally bogus – pointed out. That number was out of Nick’s mouth. Whitlock did not address it.

I actually heard the 2.1 figure before the nick wright show
