Cliffy Nice writeup, Mark. We came prepared so the wet weather didn’t bother us a bit. Some notes:
Fagen’s dramatic piano prelude to Greenflower Street with the thunder roaring and the lightning flashing behind the stage was awesome.
The horn players switching to flutes for Lowdown was a lot of fun.
Jon Herrington was, as always, great but I didn’t realize Boz was such a good guitarist.
After the storm break, Boz picked up where he left off in Miss Sun. I wish they had started over again. But … Carolyn Leonhart was wonderful and man, does she look good too! Putting her next to Fagen is definitely the Beauty and the Beast.
I’ve seen Steely Dan 5 times (KC (’96 at Sandstone?), StL, Denver, West Palm Beach, Minneapolis) and this is the first time Fagen has done any of his solo work (Nightfly). IGY was, indeed, a special moment.
Dudes working the cocktail booth needed a tent … man did they look wet and miserable.
What are the chances of an album coming out of this tour similar to New York Rock and Soul Revue?
Duke No group is worth sitting in the rain for. Ever!
I turned down an invite to this last July because I said I thought it would probably rain. 2010 Summer weather has sucked and continues to ruin outdoor events. I just don’t go. I don’t have to learn my lesson more than about twice.

Pic looks a lot like Mark Edelman. Is it live or is it Photoshop?

Smart…thought same thing. I guess I’m smart too.

Fagen has more hair than I do. And talent. And money.

I’ve never seen Fagen and Edelman in the same room.
