GH: K-State is riding a torrid 4-of-5 game Big 12 win streak that includes a pounding of then top-ranked Kansas. Sleepy Nebraska jumped into everyone’s bubble conversation with maybe the upset of the year with their win over Texas. This matchup could not come at a better time for Big 12 hoops crazies. Both teams need this one to remain legit NCAA contenders.

About mispronunciations
I still remember (mostly) when Curt Gowdy mispronounced all five Jayhawk starters in a telecast.
I think it was the tournament. Anyway, it was against UCLA. Turned out to be the dreaded “Sneaker Game.”
Anyway, Curt started with Ken Koenings. Okay, not quite spelled like it sounds. Gowdy called him “Keenings” instead of “KAY-nings.”
Then there was Donnie Von Moore. Curt said “Donnie Van Moore.”
Darnell Valentine became “Darrel” Valentine.
I can’t remember the 4th starter but Gowdy botched it, too.
I remember thinking, “He’s gonna get 4 out of 5 starters’ names wrong.” I knew it would be 4 out of 5 because not even Gowdy on a bad day could screw up Clint Jones.

I’ve always thought highly of Sadler as a coach.
He’ll never accomplish much at Nebraska, though. He has trouble recruiting anyway without trying to recruit to Nebraska.
I have to agree with the guy above on the Barfknecht piece. Maybe you and Kerchoff can get together once a week starting next season and talk about the huskers without boring the rest of us with it.

– KSU needs a win tonight in a BIG way. They still have MU at home (a coinflip) and Texas on the road (loss). Nebraska, with a win tonight, has a decent NCAA chance with 3 winnable games left.
– “Mextinguisher” is a possible new nickname circulating on the internet.
– Greinke’s comments in the Milwaukee paper are being criticized by Nick Wright’s callers and KK. I don’t think these people understand social anxiety and mental disorders. On the surface, his comments (basically saying he hates talking to reporters and people in general, tries to avoid ineraction with teammates and fans, and says he didn’t always try in the 2nd half of last year in KC when the Royals sucked and management clearly wasn’t trying to put a good team on the field) seem very bad and even mean. I implore KK and others to not judge Greinke. Unless someone is in Greinke’s head, they could never clearly understand his anti-social disorder and how he’s wired. It’s called a disorder for a reason. Greinke’s not normal. He doesn’t think normal. He doesn’t like being around people. He doesn’t like talking to people. Maybe he doesn’t like most people. He’s not stuck up. He’s not aloof. His head is just arranged differently than most. I get the sense he’s just not sure how to deal with the world like most people do naturally. Normal, easy things for most people are a huge, stress-inducing chore for Zack. Criticizing Greinke’s social skills is like criticizing a handicapped person’s physical abilities.

KU puts into football. Let’s face it, Nebraska will never be a basketball power, and the fan base is fine with that. As long as they have a team that’s competitive and can pull an upset every once in a while (Texas on Saturday) all is good as long as the football team has everything they need.
As much as I’ve bashed K State, I will give them props on a very gutty win in a hostile environment. I do think they are probably in the NCAA tournament, barring a monumental collapse. That MU-K State game on Saturday should be a good one.
