Glazer: Life After Multiple Sex Partners…The Seth Jaffe Story

Brutal as yesterday was, today is a brand new day and believe it or not, I got a brand new girlfriend out of the deal…

Moving on, I was so pleased to see that a dear friend of mine I met in prison, Seth Jaffe, is starring on his own reality show. It’s called Relapse, and Seth is the Sober Counselor on the show. The new season premiered Monday – yeah, up against the NCAA finals – and it still did well. Seth plays himself. He’s easy to recognize; deep voice, New York accent and tough. But he’s also fair and in the first show he dealt with a longtime alcoholic, father of two.

In the end it all worked out.

Seth was one of the most memorable people I met in the joint.

Like I said, he’s a tough guy – a New York actor, who had a nice career going in LA – but then he got in trouble for something he did years before his career picked up. He took the hit on a federal drug sting that he had little to do with at the time, but that’s the breaks. Jaffe was one of the handful of guys I met in prison who really was in the TV/film biz. One of his visitors was Alec Baldwin, the two had the same agent and were pals.

When I got out of prison, it was Seth who was waiting for me at the bus stop in LA.

He took me to lunch and then made me pay – I think it 50 bucks. They only give you about $110 when you leave jail. Very funny, Seth.

We’ve stayed friends all these years. Seth was an addict in his 20’s back in New York, heroin. He kicked it because he didn’t want to hurt his mother anymore. Seth later went to Day Top, a well known drug rehab on the East Coast.

He and I got into a fistfight one time…

I don’t remember what started it, I think I was making fun of him, like he was a pansy. And he made a comment like, Craig’s not such a bad ass, and we got into it. Nobody really won – we traded punches, we both landed punches – it was a draw. I remember after that he wrote a comedy skit for me called, First Jew on the Moon.  And I won the Toastmasters with it at our prison camp."

Jaffe became a counselor and he got back into acting after prison.

Seth was in some big films like, "St. Elmo’s Fire" and "My Blue Heaven." He did tons of guest star roles on TV. After prison he was hired to play the "Commish" but was dropped at the last minute for a bigger name actor. Seth had already signed his deal with the network, so it came as quite a blow.

He still got work, but not enough, so a few years ago, he and his wife said, "Screw Hollywood," and moved to New Mexico. He loved it there, but was bored.

Several months ago his phone rang and it was the producer of Relapse. They explained his name came up from other casting people as a guy who would "kill" in the role of Sober Counselor.  He tried out, got the part and is now one of the leads on the series.

Seth and his wife have moved back to LA, live on the water and he is very happy with this third chance in the biz.

Jaffe has been clean and sober for many years and loves this part because it’s real and fits who he is. Seth enjoys helping others and he’s brilliant in the role. The show is on A&E weekly. If this season goes well he’ll get a nice run next season with even more shows.

I watched the first one, it runs several times a week. First shows are on Monday night. Just goes to show, you never know when that big shot will land. Sometimes even after you give up.

I am so glad for Seth, he deserves this and more. Watch the show, you’ll enjoy it.

I could be wrong because I’ve never seen either show, but isn’t the new one called “Relapse”? I think “Intervention” has been around for awhile.

    You Are Right
Yes it is Relapse, my mistake, that series has spin offs now, like CSI, but Seth’s show is Relapse.

    Takes One to Know One
Isn’t it odd that the best people to fix the addiction are men and women who were once addicts. It’s great he’s giving back. Nice story.

    hey kellysguy
For guy that looks like a panhandler you spend a lot of time on the internet. Got a library card?

    Sloppy Seconds
For someone who lives in the world of comedy you don’t understand timing.

You go from a banging 7 broads story to this? That’s like the Rolling Stones going from Gimme Shelter to a cover of You Light Up My Life.

You need to keep up your version of the dirty.com. Tits+clits=hits. Don’t be so quick to close the lid on Pandora’s box. Certainly you’ve got some 3-Way stories with chicks snortin’ some krell off your schwantz. You gotta pound it like sausage to get it up after after some schmeeze numbs up your rod. You know what I’m talkin about. Couple of 8-Balls and a case of Cristal. Locked down in the crib for three days. That’s what we wanna hear about. Tell us how you Glazer your ham.

  9. Hearne Christopher says:

Come on, man. Give the poor guy a day to rest up before he self-immolates again with Part 2!

    What Would Jesus Do?
C’mon Harley, Glazer’s a non-believer and I’m sure his actor buddy is too. Can’t be hip in Hollywood and believe in Jesus. L. Ron Hubbard and Xenu, that’s OK. Just ask Cruise and Travolta. Also, I would have taken you as an Old Testament guy. Please don’t tell me you to the Cult of The Resurrection Convention Center out in the OP.

I like that a guy you met in the joint has done so well with his life. What a comeback. Small world isn’t it Glazer. He looks the type. I will try and watch it next week.

    No Blacks on Show
Unless the black person is an attractive girl, rarely are they of color on these shows. Yet we have the biggest drug problems. How is that fair?
