And so the most successful cinematic franchise in the history of the movies comes to an ever so magical conclusion!
Eight Potter movies in 10 years producing in excess of $6 billion in worldwide ticket sales and actually outperforming the entire James Bond series which had a 39 year long head start
Now in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS-PART 2, Harry advances to the final confrontation with Lord Voldemort. Tying up loose ends along the way and answering some previously unanswered questions. And while staying as close to the book as possible, HP8 leads its viewers to the film’s exciting wizard war game—a spectacle to behold.
Adding significantly to this shortest episode of the series (2 hrs. &10 min.) is the film’s visually stunning 3-D.
It’s not so much that they throw things at you here. It’s the terrific depth the 3-dimensional process adds to the total ‘feel’ of this closing chapter which begins immediately with an impressive 3-D Warner Brothers logo at the start of the film.
So if you have a choice, cough up the 3-D surcharge. It’s definitely worth it for HP8!
While not revealing any spoilers here, I will say that the anticipation level for this 8th, very dark, spiritual and final book-to-screen transformation is huge. Best of all it won’t disappoint its millions of fans as Harry breaks the most powerful wand in the world while interjecting just enough humor to keep things from getting stale.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint plus Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter and the rest of the terrific cast take the finale to an emotionally charged conclusion.
It all ends here!
…Or DOES IT?
Hint 1: I didn’t hear any fat ladies sing—as in not seeing a ‘The End’ sign AT the end.
Hint 2: Let’s just say that the major players here ‘age better’ than others.
Hint 3: Trade papers report that at last week’s London premiere of the film author J.K. Rowling told the audience that although she had no immediate plans to bring the story back to life—she would "never say never."
"It is my baby and if I want to bring it out to play again I will," she said according to The Hollywood Reporter.
FACTOID: Only one major actor in the film franchise died during its 10 year production span. That was Richard Harris whose Dumbledore character was ably replaced in the series by Michael Gambon.
So welcome moviegoers around the globe and right here in Kansas City to the ultimate showdown between good and evil. The worthy, magical and final (?) HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS-PART 2 has arrived–-raising 4 out of 5 wizard-like fingers. (Rated PG-13 for good reason!)

My son and his buddies have tickets for tonight’s Imax midnight show at AMC in Olathe. His part time paycheck barely covered the admission price. He’just ask me for popcorn money. That damn wizard better be good.

Thanks for the reco on Perfect Host! David Hyde Pierce was GREAT. I’d like to see remakes with Christopher Walken, Kevin Spacey and Jack Nicholson in the lead roll.
Young guns like Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Ed Helms, Jason Bateman et.al could NEVER pull off a role like that, that requires actual acting chops.
