This is why readers are abandoning the Kansas City Star…
In yet another hit piece aimed at area Republicans, “reporter” Jason Hancock reached into his bag of dirty tricks to harness a “government watchdog” to bash former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens.
That after Greitens got off with what amounts to a wrist slap over ethics complaints over a pair of alleged campaign finance violations.
“The Missouri Ethics Commission said in a consent decree released Thursday that while there were reasonable grounds to believe Greitens’ campaign broke Missouri law, its investigation ‘found no evidence of any wrongdoing on part of Eric Greitens, individually, and no evidence Gov. Greitens knew’ about any violations,” Hancock writes.
Ah, but no way was Hancock about to let Greitens’ claim of being vindicated stand.
Citing a “liberal government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington” that had filed a complaint against Greitens in 2018, Hancock allowed the group’s PR dude Jordan Libowitz to dismantle Greitens claims of exoneration.
“Beyond the legal matter itself,” Libowitz said of Greitens, “this should make a lot of people uncomfortable.”
Just one problem…
Using a so-called “watchdog” to bash Greitens, Hancock gave the impression that the critique came from an even-handed source.
Au contraire…
While Libowitz’ group describes itself as a “non partisan non-profit,” Wikipedia has another take.
“Since liberal Democratic operative David Brock became CREW’s chairman in 2014, CREW has almost exclusively pursued investigations and litigation against Republicans and conservatives.”
Fact is, Brock is the polar opposite of an even-handed pol – having founded the far left group Media Matters. AndTime described Brock as”one of the most influential operatives in the the Democratic party.”
Long story short, when it comes to laying the pipe to pretty much any politician with the letter “R” as their party affiliation, Hancock and the Star stand ready, willing and able to cite biased groups with lofty-sounding names, despite their obvious political biases.
Hancock goes on to ad nauseam to lay down a boring, re-hashing, trashing of Greitens with catchy sub heads like “dark money,” “other allegations” and “scandal-plagued.”
Kinda like the way the Star treats local conservatives, like Josh Hawley and Kris Kobach.
And the newspaper wonders why people keep cancelling their subscriptions.
With with little to no effort to report even-handed news – in a country divided evenly down the middle, in the fairly conservative midwest – it’s almost a surprise the Star is still publishing at all.
As evidenced by commenst on McClatchy’s website:
“Almost every story that I have read in a McClatchy publication in the last 15 years has been more editorializing than news reporting,” writes Joe Tyson. “Maybe this bankruptcy will cause an awakening in the organization. Probably not though.”
“You tilted left and started to lose subscribers,” writes Scott Young. “You tilted further left and lost more. Instead of returning to what worked, you tilted farther left…I found it really easy to drop the paper and find other things to read.”
Okay, sure the internet is killing off print pubs, but why hasten the process needlessly?
The democrats hate Eric Greitens the same as they hate Trump and will go all out to attack and destroy. Yes many women hate Eric Greitens for his alleged infidelity which I agree is bad manners and not how a married person behaves, but it as well isn’t a federal or even misdemeanor offence. At least the man admitted he was wrong which is more than I can say about a lot of other people. But many of us watching from the sidelines knew the attacks on Greitens were politically motivated and nothing more.
A friend of mine runs a luxury motorhome rental business and rents out a unit to the Trump re election campaign covering the southeastern part of the country. He has never seen Trump, he deals with re-elect campaign people who sign all the contracts and so forth. These people can be doing things that are not correct or are illegal and Trump might not know it or ever know it till after the fact. I think the fine that Eric Greitens Political Committee has to pay does not mean Greitens himself was guilty of wrongdoing, but zealous not paying attention to the rules people in his campaign were. No candidate in a larger political campaign can know what is going on every minute of everyday or can control what could be tens of thousands of people who are involved.
Eric Greitens was cleared of any wrongdoing per say and the haters pointing the fingers are pissed that has happened.
If I went around slandering people making half ass lies and not factual statements and what not against people every day I wouldn’t have the time to keep doing it as I’d be in court defending myself for what I said.
The media gets behind these so called watch groups, political members and their hate groups, and promotes their agendas which to often are just nothing but a boat load of crap and lies.
Thats what makes the news now days. People don’t want the truth, they want the lies and the lies that helps them sustain that hate they have against those who are simply wanting to exercise their freedom of choice in relation to a political party and on election day.
By the way my friend has been attacked severely by Trump haters because he rented a coach to the campaign committee. Nothing personal about it, it was simply business. He has said he’d rent one to Bernie Sanders if they were to approach him, business is business and that coach don’t care whose name is on it nor does he as long as the check clears and it’s all done legally.
+1
Greitens is a first class grifter and a hypocritical POS. Whatever impact this has to his political (future) life is well earned. I’ll cry no tears for a guy that wielded a political hatchet like Lizzie Borden and secretly ran Missouri’s government (for as long as it lasted) like his own personal business. Go away, Eric. Your hair-stylist banging family values isn’t needed around here. Good riddance.
Uh, that’s telling him
Dare we forget that Obama was fined $375,000 for campaign fraud.
“President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign was fined $375,000 by the Federal Election Commission for campaign reporting violations — one of the largest fees ever levied against a presidential campaign, POLITICO has learned.”

Brock has his head so far up Obama’s black butt he no longer breathes air.
This is just more of the BS that democrats and their media throw all the time – like demanding AG Barr resign for doing his job — what about the lovely Loretta Lynch that worked out a “deal” with Bill Clinton regarding his obnoxious wife several days before Comey made a fool of himself and let her go free.
I’m very happy we have a fighter in the White House for the good of the American People.
