Hearne: Was Craig Glazer Really Comments Troll Harley?

So many mysteries, so few readily proven answers…

Like, the location of Jimmy Hoffa’s body? Whatever became of D.B. Cooper? Who was Jack the Ripper? Where’s Cleopatra’s tomb?

See what I mean?

To that illustrious list, now add: Was caustic KCC comments dude Harley secretly comedy club maven/scribe Craig Glazer?

That appeared to be the case.

However Craig denied it – even after he’d been busted for making up an entire cadre of fake commenters.

Then after Craig died – just over a year ago – the unthinkable happened.

Harley vanished…never to be heard from again.

At first there were a few weak-wristed attempts by copycat commenters.

But after nine long years, there was no mistaking the posers from the genuine article.

For whatever the reason, ding-dong time had come, and the hated Harley was no more.

At which point the circumstantial evidence seemed compelling…

Craig and Harley had to be one and the same.

Sadly, no death bed confession was to be had.

When last I visited Craig, lying on the hospital bed that was to be his last resting place, he was so out of it and weak that all I could do was turn on the pre season Chiefs game for him to see his newfound hero – who he called Pat Mahomes – breeze to an easy win.

His words were few and unintelligible.

So I did what any mouth-breathing columnist might do; rang the bell, closed the book and blew out the candle for both Craig and his egregious alter ego, Harley.

Even his longtime  “pal” Bill Nigro had to wonder.

Flash forward with me now to a few weeks back when a funny thing happened…

While fumbling around the dust bin of unneeded emails, the following sprang to life, almost as if a proverbial voice from the tomb.

Dated Tuesday,  July 12, 2016 at 5:52 pm, it read (in all caps, naturally):

“WOW YOU TOOK OUT PIECE OF SHIT GREAT…I AM BLOCKED AND CAN’T ANSWER HIS CRAP…BUT SOMEONE ELSE DID AND CALLED HIM OUT..FRANKLY I DON’T CARE ‘SHE AND HER MOM DID’ SHE BROKE OUR DATE, THANKS AND HER MOM CRIED, NORMAL PEOPLE AREN”T USED TO THAT….NICE ONE…I CAN’T WRITE FOR YOU ANYMORE…ALL THIS MUCH WORSE THAN TONY…YOU INTENTIONALLY MAKE MY STORIES LOOK BAD, TONY DOESN’T HE NEVER CHANGES MY WORDS OR MAKES MY SPELLING LOOK WAY WORSE THAN IT IS YOU DO…OVER AND OVER…AND YOU LET HARLEY WRITE THAT CRAP AND YOU KNEW HE WOULD SHAME ON YOU, YOU AIN’T NO FRIEND HEARNE.”

For those of you who missed (or can’t remember) the time I grew so weary of having to edit one or two incredibly poorly written Craig columns each and every day, that I kicked him off the site temporarily, consider the above a free sample of the type of writing I had to deal with.

And yes, Craig was correct.

So tedious was cleaning up, fact and spell checking Craig’s columns that I also made mistakes here and there, but trust me, had I not done it, discerning readers would have paid a far more severe price.

Craig got mad and went a knocking at Tony’s door, where he was gladly accepted.

And while I did not read him there, based upon what Craig said, Mr. T copied and pasted Craig’s painfully poorly written works directly into his blog and rolled on down the highway.

After I rested up and later relented, Craig continued to write for both sites.

All of that said, look at the angst and passion of Craig’s unhappiness with my allowing Harley to work his magic on Craig in the comments section.

For the record, this was at a time when I was screening Craig’s comments to ensure some measure of civility and/or prior restraint.

So you can see that Craig was unhappy with me and frustrated.

Suffice it to say, it was a moment of rage that would soon pass and Craig and I continued to work together and enjoy a close relationship for years to come. Not that you could tell that from reading the above.

More to the point, how could Craig manufacture such anger and angst toward Harley if they were one and the same?

This was a somewhat rare – but not unique – moment of anger for Craig. He could dish it out, but he clearly didn’t enjoy taking it and from time to time, would let me know as much.

Sure seems genuine to me….

So I poked around a little further and found this more measured followup:

Dated July 13, 2016 it reads (in lower case, mind you):

I have been a loyal friend to you for many years Hearne. ON this site when you have been attacked I always stood up for you when it was over the top. Always.I know you dumped a few no name comment people like Harley before when they were out of line…which is often…but this was way bad. Allowing him, a major lunatic to write all those insults, use foul language, call that girl a prostitute and gat and ugly and on and on, me everything under the sun…it was a perfect piece of comment on why the site has been under attack and lost interest of many readers…some have talked to me about just that, like B Shloz and  a few who no longer read the kcc cause of all the vile comments and haters, many worse than Tonys. Harley is a make believe person as are most, who just hates, he isn’t the only one. I didn’t mind the other mean comments, but that long tirade was of course seen by that lady, her family and friends, of course the people who filmed the movie, director and other staff. They don’t know me that well, they were all shocked. I warned them there might be some ‘hater’ comments, but nothing like that.

You have asked me to do more with girls and sex. This isn’t even that, and look what happened. The only one blocked was me, still am. I never wrote anything with foul words in fact I rarely comment much now unless its to answer a question or explain something….often mistakes you made in edits … that made me look stupid…hey I have made mistakes in my writing but far less in recent stories….you make them in yours as well…

I called you and asked you to take Harley’s down…instead you let time go by then just took out a few things which didn’t help much…she’s still a hooker and I’m a fat,65 year old viagra using creep and more…on and on…

I was to see her tonight, thats dead. I’m sure she will never want to speak to me again….and I really wanted to go out with her…imagine if you were posting your stories on dating with photos! Oh boy…we know you don’t cause it would be brutal. But you want me to do such things and let me get killed for doing it.

I told you to take it down, you chose not too wouldn’t even call me, you did try once I was being interviewed at that moment by  Jon Niccom he is doing a cover story on Nikki Glasser and wanted my input..she is now a huge star..right behind Amy Schumer.

I was going to write about the race issues next, Trumps kinda comeback and so on…but why. I think you just proved to me where you stand. Harley can say anything he wants, a fake person, just to get comments and you like to see me twist in the wind, like Dare and others.

Things as you know, have been hard on lately, I sure didn’t need this crap. It was a fun story and kinda a unique situation….it wasn’t bragging or pretending it was anything more than a fun lark and an interesting one night event…I thought the photos would make it more real, instead it became a lets kill Craig response from the hater posse. Mostly Harley. Who I said I wouldn’t respond to anymore weeks ago, and didn’t. I would have on this one. Someone else did.

Anyways, I don’t think a friend would have acted as you did. That was pretty low. You made it impossible for me to say anything, maybe not on purpose but as of last night it was still blocked, but its ok for Harley  and others to do whatever they want. Makes no sense other than you just don’t care and enjoy seeing it as well. Very sad.

Make no mistake, Craig isn’t the only writer to be pissed off about Harley.

Craig makes a decent case – a bit out of context – but within reason I have allowed people in the comments section to exhibit poor behavior. Dwight Sutherland and Paul Wilson can attest to experiencing less than enjoyable moments, courtesy of Harley. That said, we writers get our say, and within reason, the readers deserve theirs.

To my way of thinking, Harley arguably provided a lame, comic relief to things.

And as you may recall, he was certainly no huge fan of mine either.

Getting back to the topic at hand, can many of you reading those unpublished emails really believe that Craig and Harley were one and the same?

I can’t.

I will add though that Bschloz, was a person Craig later copped to having made up.

What’s that expression, it’s complicated.
