Some OF YOU may wonder IF I’ve given up on the movies…
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Let’s just say that a temporary, severe health issue placed an unfortunate fork in my writing and reviewing road, preventing me from attending advance screenings.
The good news: I’m on the mend and am inching back into the movie spiel.
In the meantime—thanks to earlier previews and studio-provided screeners—here are my nine best bets at the box office during this December’s holiday season.
Not based on ticket sales, mind you, but on what I believe will provide you the most fun nights at the movies.
1.- The biographical, comedic-drama “VICE” starring Christian Bale as VP Dick Chaney and Amy Adams as Lynn Chaney.
2.- Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali in the multi-nominated “GREEN BOOK.”
3.- 88 year old Clint Eastwood. Still producing. Still directing. Still starring as “THE MULE.”
4.- Emily Blunt in Disney’s musical fantasy “MARY POPPINS RETURNS”—the sequel some 54 years in the making.
5.- “HOLMES & WATSON” with those ‘Step Brothers’ Will Ferrell and John C. Riley taking on the fractured legend of Sherlock Holmes.
6.- DC’s Cinematic Universe superhero spinoff “AQUAMAN” with Jason Mohoa doing the wet honors.
7.- The early 18th century period piece “THE FAVOURITE” with Rachel Weisz, Emma Stone and Olivia Colman.England never had it that good. And from among the ‘long runs’……
8.- Bradley Cooper/Lady Gaga’s smash it “A STAR IS BORN.”
9.- Rami Malek’s amazing portrayal of Freddie Mercury in “BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.”Happy holidays from popcorn-friendly ‘Jack Goes to the Movies.’
Glad to see you’re getting better and will be back at it real soon.
Really good to hear you are feeling better Jack!
