Hearne: ‘Craig Glazer’ — Back From The Dead?

Dark humor, anyone?

Then settle back and listen to a tale about a man named…Harley.

That’s right, that curmudgeonly, caustic coward we’ve known and loved as – once upon a time – JoJo and more recently Boom Boom.

At the risk in putting words into anyone’s mouth, he’s also the dude Paul Wilson loves to hate – who vexes Paul no end. And who pretty much anybody who has ever weighed into the comments section here can attest, has been universally reviled by everyone except – wait for it – his political soulmate, the ever-loving Stomper.

He’s also the dude who took an unannounced powder at just about the same time Craig Glazer broke his typing hand on the chin of some hapless cabbie who came to his Plaza apartment to take him to the hospital for his final journey.

Now as obnoxious as we pretty much all know Boom Boom to be, he kinda had a soft spot for Craig. Not a gigantic one, but a soft spot nonetheless.

So by every reasonable measure it was a no-brainer that Boom Boom would weigh in after the Scribe bit the dust a few weeks back – a total no-brainer.

Ah, but that was not to be.

When Craig departed this mortal coil Boom Boom went bye-bye as well.

Coincidence?

Just an odd enough one to get me putting two-and-two together and coming up with the square root of 144.

Was Craig Harley – I mean – Boom Boom?

After all, it wasn’t the first time Glazer had assumed alternate identities in the comments section.

The latest…

What started as a somewhat random musing about Craig maybe having been Harley became increasingly truthy-seeming as the weeks rolled by.

To the point that fellow Boom Boom victim Dwight Sutherland hopped on the conspiracy bandwagon and launched an all-out investigation into the “likelihood” that it very much the case. You know, Craig had been Harley and Boom Boom.

Dwight will have a story out shortly covering his reporting on this grave topic.

But then, just when everything seemed to be falling into place, out of the blue came the following comment:

“HEARNE: THIS IS FRONT PAGE NEWS: BOOM BOOM IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND GET READY! HE’S FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHHAHHHAAHAHAAHAHAHA TO ALL THE SHMOES WHO THOUGHT
I WAS THE GLAZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU’RE THE FOOLS!

on a sincere note: MAY GLAZE REST IN PEACE. I KNEW HIM FOR OVER 50
YEARS AND FOR ALL THE POOR GRAMMER AND SPELLING DIFFERING
WORDS WE HAD…I STILL LIKED THE GUY. MORE TO COME ON THIS SOON.”

A Copy Cat and not all that good at that.

  2. Phaedrus says:

Told ya. Boomeroni was in Tuscany on vacation.

  3. paulwilsonkc says:

Craig was not focused enough to be Harley/Boom Boom / JoJo / Asshat.
It took too much dedication to maintain the syntax and line wraps. You can see IP’s. You know all of Harley’ that you used to block him.
The above referenced example of as proof of the resurrection of Craig OR Harley is neither.

  4. J. Springer says:

    He’s dead. Move on.

  5. ekim says:

That Mr. White guy in the last article was an awful lot like the Harlinator!

  6. Eric Haynes says:

I’d like to know why Glazer punched the cabbie..did he do it because he was super high? or was he just fighting the grim reaper?
Maybe he just didn’t want to pay, who knows?

Good news Hearne on a couple of levels.

Harley/Boom Boom always generated sparks so if he really is planning to post comments here (and assuming he is the real thing) I see the upside. Of course I’m a bit biased since I’m a Democrat and appear outnumbered at KCC with that perspective.

Also I’m thrilled that Dwight is planning to post another piece in the near future. No offense meant to anyone else but Dwight classes the place up and raises the bar on discourse.

To echo Paul, there is no way imho that Glaze was Harley. Glaze was mostly indifferent to politics and when he opined on the topic, he tilted right without digging too deep. Harley (to my way of thinking) was always fluent in details and pushed the envelope way to the progressive left. I just don’t see those radically different perspectives and styles coming from the same cerebral cortex. A lot of your commenters, even those who post under an alias, will still post additional comments under a different name than they normally use so I wouldn’t put much weight on that aspect. Also, I think Glaze was a bit self centered and maybe thinned skinned so to post other perspectives under an alias that actually are critical of himself doesn’t fit in my view. I think the times that Craig did use an alias, it was to compliment himself.

Finally, I was critical of Harley at least a few time over the years I’ve posted here. Even though we agreed on our politics, he trashed me on many occasions. I thought he crossed the line of decency often in his responses to Dwight, Paul, and even Glaze. I also had a hard time believing that anyone with a journalism degree from MU would post rambling and grammatically inferior prose like he usually did. I think a journalism major would have far more pride in his finished/published work.

      Dear Stomps:

I too could see the upside, although you would have to try and convince Sir Paul of that at gunpoint…

I’m mixed on the Glaze is Harley, too, but…

When he was a fake person in the past he would (cleverly?) find ways to say things that ran counter to his own thoughts and feelings. About the only thing that would have been sacred to Craig was his fake hair and whether or not he was a snitch.

He was into politics though, you may recall. Very much on the Trump bandwagon and active writing about him during the election. He’d kind of backed off in recent months – many months – so who knows. But I could see him fake pimping readers on how cool Hillary was even though he didn’t necessarily believe it.

Many of his fake personas did agree with or compliment him though, you’re right.

But the bottom line on his alt identities was – at least initially – that he wanted to bump his comments count to keep up with Greg Hall and I.

As far as having a journalism degree from MU, just because he said he did doesn’t mean he did. So in that respect, Glaze would have fit right in.

Ok, I’ll start… Kerouac is not/was not CG, Harley or Boom Boom (nor am I any other blog username… that ought to narrow down the suspects.) But, “Was Craig Harley – I mean – Boom Boom?”

    – another time, another dimension, perhaps he Was (Not Was). So is CG gone? Prefer imagine him still ‘there’, in lieu ‘here’… he’s just out somewhere, walkin’ the dinosaur. [ ‘Boom boom acka-lacka lacka boom. Boom boom acka-lacka boom boom’ ]
