With six players in double digits for Villanova tying an NCAA Final Four record for 3 point shooting, Kansas got trounced and lost 95-79 last night.
Only Devonte Graham and Malik Newman seemed to show up for KU with both scoring over 20 points but with no help – the KU defense was just a no show.
As KU coach Bill Self admitted after the game,”We were just never in it.”
Kansas was out of the game in just a few minutes.
Kinda like last year with Oregon, game over and fast from start.
Kansas fell behind early by 15-20 points and never challenged Villanova the entire way. It was an ugly end to a fun ride and a great fun season for the Jayhawks.
Yes, KU had a ton to be proud of this year with its 14th straight Big 12 championship, the Big 12 tourney title, a Final Four and more than 30 wins, but it was a sad and ugly end to the run.
Anybody think we’d feel better with a close loss? Maybe not – a loss is just that- IT’S OVER.
KU was a charismatic, fast, fun team with a couple of future NBA guys on board, but Villanova was great with perhaps five or more NBA future guys on its squad.
They shot the lights out of the sky in this one.
KU couldn’t defend and really had no answers to much of anything.
Villanova was just a great and better team, that’s all.
Bill Self now has but the one title in three Final Fours. He is a Hall of Famer but you know how badly he wants another title to pad his stats and feel great about.
It won’t be this year though.
For me and many fans of KU basketball, it was a terrific and unexpected ride to the big dance, but it hurts to see it end on a sour note.
It always does.
Maybe they could start playing ranked teams during the season instead of playing easy prey.
It was a wonderful loss.
Good April Fools joke!
It was their tough record that got them a one seed plus winning against good teams.
Correction Glaze. Villanova BROKE the Final Four record for three-pointers in a game with 18; they TIED the record for three-pointers in a half with 13.
Always interesting how, when KU loses year after year, Glazer says “great season! tough end. too bad. blah blah blah,” but when the Chiefs do the same thing– make it to the playoffs but fail to win the big one– it’s, “these losers can’t do anything right, they’ll never win the big one, blah blah blah.” Why the different tone for two perennial losers?
good point paul…but look at the source. Glaze couldn’t tell you anything about why
self was playing a 2-3 defense against a team with so many 3 point shooters. He doesn’t know anything about sports. And you made an excellent point.
Kacie (Hosmers ex) could though and pointed out it was a very bad decision.
And she said it right to rob riggles face on national tv.
Great season for hawks….they’ll be better next year if they don’t lose their center
and newman….maybe best team in years.

– ^ to the callow numb-nutz ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ who posted the above paragraph ^
KU has made it to the final four – college basketball’s equivalent of the Conference Championship in the NFL – five times in the last 15 years, whereas the swiss chiefs have made it but once in the last quarter century. As well, KU won it all recently as 2008; KC hasn’t sniffed a Championship or anything of note nigh on half a century.
KU = perennial contender, legitimate hope… a coaching history includes Phog Allen, Dick Harp, Ted Owens, Larry Brown, Roy Williams and Bill Self – all won it all, or at minimum made the Final Four.
KC = a perennial pretender, the rigor of a rite annually, an also-ran for the ages. An long list of successful coaches that includes one: Hank Stram – he won it all & placed another time as well; ancient history now his last stand some 45 seasons ago. Since? No coach followed in his wake KC has sniffed Championship, a close but no cigar 25 years ago final four conference championship blowout ‘it.’
Get it?
Got it?
Good.
Carry on/keep up the good work, CG… Kerouac has no dog in this or any fight, other than truth being espoused.
😎
YES K ONE IS A CONSTANT CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER THE OTHER IS NOT…SIMPLE AS THAT..MAYBE NOW WITH PAT IT WILL CHANGE WE WILL SEE.
Are you familiar with the caliber of competition metric, specifically as it relates to playoff win probability? Didn’t think so. You strike me as an “I use an adding machine” kinda guy.
Follow-up: how in the WORLD do you manage to post such long missives? Don’t they have time limits on the library computers?
Paul I do this for fun and to keep you guys entertained…this is not my job…its a side bar for me as it has been for years…KU had a great run and unexpected so it was a fun ride, thats all.
Paul you are welcome to use anything you want to tell us who will win anytime…I don’t see you doing that here.
My comment had nothing to do with who would win or lose. It was all about your differing attitude following premature exits for two local teams.
+1
I’ll pay any amount of money to compete in an iq test with you glaze.
you are just plumb brain warped….how is being in the final 16 or the final
8 different for ku in the subsport of college basketball different than being one
of 8 in the professional highly skilled world of pro football.
I’m gonna knock you out!!!!!! You are just plum stupid when it comes to
sports.
K is a loser…you are a loser. I’ll take you on this fall…loser stops writing on kcc
but hearne won’t let it happen because he is just an old lazy jounalist!
Boomer/Harley/JOJO Hearne keeps you on as a feeder for jokes and to be laughed at, thats it. Nobody takes you serious or cares what you think about anything really. I liked KU all through their great run and it was no the Chiefs don’t compare these are deep post season runs and every year not one and out, Chiefs may change that this year with Pat we will see.
