The cable news networks, are like expectant, proud fathers…
They’re poised to deliver their newest, 24/7 news cycle baby.
After a fervent, profound and dire opening statement from Senator Mark Warner – in his best baritone – concerning the possibility of “Russian Interference” in our most “sacred” institution (and this is a guy who won’t even support Voter ID).
So we in the public have to endure the hue and cries by politicians on both sides of the aisle that this alleged interference is an “Act Of War” and that we should be OUTRAGED!
Here’s a short list of countries where, American politicians, in their wisdom, overthrew the elected and non elected governments”.
The Congo in 1960. The leader was eventually hunted down and killed by the CIA.
The Dominican Republic 1961
Chile 1973 We really covered ourselves in glory on this one.
Brazil 1964
Iran 1953 This one is a disgrace.
Guatemala 1954.
Vietnam. Things went swimmingly there.
Don’t think for a minute, that we’ve even learned our own lessons.
We interfered in the Democratically elected government of The Ukraine just a couple of years ago.
Check out this from Pat Buchanan:
“First, though portrayed as a tyrannical thug, Viktor Yanukovych won the presidency of Ukraine in 2010 in what international observers called a free and fair election. He may not be Marcus Aurelius, but his remains the legitimate government.
“Second, high among the reasons Yanukovych chose Russia’s offer to join its custom union over the EU is that Putin put a better deal on the table.
“Moscow put up $15 billion in loans and cut-rate oil and gas.”
The Democratically elected president in Ukraine was forced out by American supported mobs in the streets and by the way, John McCain was there, in person, to help incite the violence and the overthrow.
Egypt, you bet. For a while, during the “Arab Spring” here in the White House, we thought that those guys in the Muslim Brotherhood were just like Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton et al.
Libya, that is going just great!!”
Anyone who has above room temperature IQ and a cursory interest in politics and foreign affairs, knows, KNOWS that America spies on allies and enemies alike and does EXACTLY what the Russians are accused of doing.
It makes me exceedingly happy each time I see a piece of yours pop up here. You’re a much needed addition! What’s your tomorrow look like? You have a rain check in hand.
Thanks!
🙂
I gotta get dirty tomorrow buddy.
Another rain check.

Chuck tells the truth. He tells the truth, he tells the truth. With no BS.
Thanks.

I’m…I’m a little confused. I understand the history being repeated here and I also find it abhorrent. Not for nothing, but if the United States doesn’t destabilize Mohammed Mossadegh, maybe we don’t prop up the Shah of Iran for a decades-long brutal dictatorship leading to a brutal overthrow and the rise of the Ayatollah Khomeini and on and on and maybe the entire world is a completely different place.
So, yeah. The US fucked up and the US has historically interfered with all sorts of democratically-elected governments. But, um, without putting too fine a point on it, so what? I’ll grant you that a lot of the members of Congress complaining about Russian interference in our election hypocritically have no problem when we ratfuck another country. Again, so what? Are you justifying the Russians interfering in ours? Are you saying that it’s okay that the Russians (may have) ratfucked our election? Are you saying that Congress should ignore that we got ratfucked? That they shouldn’t look into it, just let it slide?
Because if the point of this article is “hey, the US does this shit too!” then I guess the response is “OH. MY. GOD! WOW! We Do! You’r right! Holy shit! Thanks for the history lesson!”
And if the point is “people shouldn’t be hypocrites!” then I guess my response is, “Um. Noted.”
But if your point is that the United States Congress should ignore crimes committed against us because we’ve committed the same crimes ourselves, then you’re a naif and an idiot with a decent grasp of historical events. No way is it in our best interest for Congress to not investigate crimes committed against us even if we agree that we should stop committing them ourselves.
.I agree with you. My point is we are only hearing one side of the story. No one mentions what we have donE
I forgot about the tax payer funded effort to unseat Netanyahu.

Dov Levin is with the Institute for Politics and Strategy at Carnegie Mellon University.
“This is hardly the first time a country has tried to influence the outcome of another country’s election. The U.S. has done it, too, by Don Levin’s account, more than 80 times worldwide between 1946 and 2000. The U.S. is arguably more vocal than any other country about trying to promote democracy and democratic values around the world.”
100% correct. The MSM trying to get me outraged about the Russians just makes me laugh.
Let’s recap: Paulwilsonkc: Chuck OMG I love you so much. Please, please come have a cigar with me…pretty please!.
Chuck: no, your creepy and I hate everything and everyone.
Paulwilsonkc: OK, so your saying there’s a chance!
Chuckfan(really chuck): Chuck is good.. chuck is great…herp…derp…doy…duh.
Chuck: Thanks chuck..er I mean chuckfan.
Gavin: Checks chuck into the glass.
Chuck: (Ignores Gavin), but hey I forgot this too!
Guy who says what others think(really chuck again) 100% right! MSM! (ignores Gavin)
That about cover it?
Guy who says… is not me at all. I am sure Hearne could confirm this.
That said, you probably have a point. It does sound kind of “clubby” here sometimes.
I have met Paul and he is a very charismatic and entertaining personality. Like I said, you make a good point. We should probably keep our personal conversations personal. It does look like I am trying to be too cool for school.
Sorry.
Therealworld is a jagoff. Doesn’t even have the brains to check the timestamps to see who posted what, when.
A. I’m not Chuck
B. I didn’t ignore Gavin, I just now read it, days later.
Chuck, this was an excellent post. Perhaps too smart for Hearne’s readers, well except for Gavin, who is WAY smart.
Where else could we post this???
You know your history, Chuck.
Thanks.

Along the same lines, the Russians are putting warships off our coasts and planes flying along our coast line (at least 12 nm out). They did it from the late 1940’s to the late 1980’s and stopped because they didn’t have the money to do it. Now they are doing it again and people are acting like this is all new. We have been doing since the late 1940’s and still do it today to the Russians and other countries. People do forget the past.
