Welcome to Hollywood’s annual Bye-Week…
It’s the week after Thanksgiving when the major studios pretty well release—NOTHING.
It’s also the weekend before the first of the major Christmas releases hit local screens on December 9th.
So it’s a good time to get caught up on movies missed.
Here are my five Best Bets right now at the box office:
* “Hacksaw Ridge”
* “The Edge of Seventeen”
* “Moana”
* “Arrival”
* “Fantastic Beasts”

Jack, what’s the story with the movie about McDonalds’ founder Ray Kroc? I remember seeing posters last summer announcing a September or October premier. I’m looking forward to Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Kroc.
Hey Paul,
The film called “THE FOUNDER” with Michael Keaton was originally scheduled for release during the early fall season.
But after several successful screenings the distributor felt strong enough to hold it back for some late December Oscar-nomination runs in L.A.—then release it in January AFTER the nominations are out.
“THE FOUNDER” is currently scheduled to open in KC on January 20, 2017.
p.s.—the Oscar nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24.
