THE ACCOUNTANT is not who you think he is—or WHAT he appears to be…
In one sense he’s an accounting specialist who offers savant-like skills with numbers to some of the world’s most dangerous outfits.
His other side is one driven by the cruel world of autism.
Ben Affleck in the title role walks a fine line between both aspects of this complex action-thriller.
RAINMAN with high-octane lethal firepower anyone?
And now J.K. Simmons of the Treasury Department is closing in on our complex CPA/Hero by following the murky trail of inconsistencies uncovered by Anna Kendrick at John Lithgow’s Living Robotics high-end tech outfit.
Sounds weird?
It is to a degree as the movie combines the best of two very different worlds.
Some would call it the worst.
But action fans won’t be disappointed as this cinematic thrill-puzzle evolves into a high caliber Rambo-like shootout with the accountant taking no prisoners.
The ways of Affleck’s developing origins are told through a series of flashbacks involving his formative years and challenges with his family—with a definite twist towards the film’s conclusion that nicely ties the savant’s idiosyncrasies together.
Make no mistake, this is not your typical shoot ’em up action drama.
It’s definitely edgy and will satisfy both its genre crowd as well as more serious moviegoers.
By combining various formulas THE ACCOUNTANT delivers 2:08 hours of bulletproof justice.
And you will never make fun of pocket protectors again. BELIEVE IT!
THE ACCOUNTANT scores an eccentric: B
I’d rather see Ben Affleck as Batman than Rainman.
