It was an odd season for our Royals…
They began as they ended last season, in first place and looking strong.
Next came a short slide and then back into first.
Unfortunately, everything went nuts after that.
June and July were horrible and then came the comeback with a big run in August that gave us all hope for another World Series.
Fat chance.
September came and the Royals simply ran out of gas. Nobody could step up to save the slide. Our pitchers led by reliever Joacim Soria fell apart, Eric Hosmer‘s bat went a bit cold and Sal Perez was rested off and on. Then Lorenzo Cain got hurt and couldn’t hit much.
It all added up to a terrible September.
Needing to win almost every series, the Royals struggled to win two series. The hill was just too steep.
Last night the Royals got tagged again by a weak Oakland team, 8-0 and lost their third in a row to the A’s.
With 17 games left and needing to win at least 14 more, it’s just about impossible now – especially the way this month has gone.
In fact the team will have to battle to finish much over .500.
It just wasn’t their year.
The team seems to have accepted its plight and will be looking at young guys in their squad for help next season.With a longer off season – no playoffs – it’s possible their starters and relievers will have time to find themselves for next year.
A bigger issue is getting more offense.
Yes. the Royals have three regulars with plus 20 home runs but nobody hitting over .300 or with a shot at 30 homers. That needs to change.
Hey, they gave us two great seasons in 2014 and 2015.
We’d never had back to back World Series or Super Bowl appearances in KC.
So thank you Kansas City Royals. You made us proud.
Now it’s wait till next year.
CG, July did the Royals in, not September. August was fun as hell to watch the boys in blue. Maybe it’s an “every other month” type of them with them.
They are going to end up with about 83 to 85 wins in 2016. That isn’t a giant letdown, but less than some folk’s expectations. I picked them for 87 wins in our company pot, so I’m still alive. 3 World Series in a row? If that was anyone’s expectation, they are not a student of baseball history.

You are right maybe Morales can..still, far from enough to help this year.
The injury bug finally caught them this year. After largely avoiding them the past few years, they came back with a vengeance this season. Losing Moose for the season after starting so hot was especially painful. Gordon, I think is still hurt, and not having Hoch was particularly damaging to our pen. That set off a disastrous over-reliance on Soria that delivered the death blow this month. 2017 is our last shot before the window closes for these guys. Let’s hope a long off-season gets everyone back to full strength and Dayton finally gets us a bat & starting pitcher for one last glorious run.

Royals are 74-72. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is still interested in watching the remaining 16 games to see if they can finish with a record above .500 and extend the above .500 streak to 4 years. It beats contemplating at this point in the season if the Royals were gonna top the 100 mark for losses, which for those with ADD was as late as 2012. I’ll be disappointed in this season, considering the injuries, only if they can’t manage to stay above .500.
… and on to ‘wait till next year, part 2017, verse 48!’

I’m not that brutal as you…but the fact remains is that you’ve not picked

He can continue to write on tonys blog but why would he when he

At least Super Dave gets a ton of positive comments when he writes.
