The NFL season is at the halfway point…
And New England quarterback Tom Brady has proven beyond a doubt that air in or air out of a football, he’s the best quarterback who ever lived. His team is 8 and 0 and they may go undefeated. Brady’s numbers are off the chart – 22 touchdowns, only 2 interceptions and 2709 yards passing. With a quarterback rating of 113.5 he’s the best in the NFL. Wow.
Now lets look back at deflate-gate…
Brady was charged by the league with cheating, having his guys inside the locker room take some air out of footballs. Most current and former NFL quarterbacks, including ultra conservative QBs say they too had air added or taken out. That included Joe Theismann. He likened it to baseball pitchers scuffing a baseball up to get the ball to drop or move before a pitch.
The amount taken in or out was so small it was almost undetectable.
Brady was accused of having this done in the first half of the AFC title game against the Colts. The ref’s watched more closely in the second half but Brady destroyed the Colts in that half as well. Tom went on to win the Super Bowl in yet another near record performance.
Brady has lived at the Super Bowl his entire career. He has six Super Bowl appearances and four wins. His two loses were earned on last minute drives by the Giants. Had they won those games – and Brady played well enough to win them both – he would have likely been the MVP.
Brady has four Super Bowl wins tying him for all time best and the six appearances. That’s not been equaled and may never be done again.
We know this season they watch his ball’ closely.
What more can be said of this 38 year old master quarterback? He may play until he’s 41, who knows? The only other guy who close to his level is Peyton Manning with three Super Bowls and one win. Yet Manning is not nearly at Tom’s level this season in Denver. Peyton is just a few months older than Brady but looks and plays far older. This of the current quarterbacks.
It’s time to give Brady his dues.
NFL commish Roger Goodell needs to drop the charges – they were already overturned n court – and move on.
And an apology to the NFL’s best ever quarterback would be nice.
Football, college and pro, can “watch my balls closely”.
I am done with it Glaze.
“Tom Brady has proven beyond a doubt that air in or air out of a football, he’s the best quarterback who ever lived. ”
– 999th verse, same as the first… Brady isn’t even in the conversation. What’s your preference: Championships? Stats? Controversy? Well, with apologies to ‘Meatloaf’, one out of three ain’t bad (case Brady, that one latter is egregious, however… BAD)
* Hasn’t as many Championships – or in as few a number of years – as Bart Starr: Starr won 5 in 7 years, 1961-1967 – Brady’s not even in the conversation, nor is anyone else.
* Starr won both the Superbowl’s he was in, 2-0… chowder head NE has already lost 2 Superbowl’s, or twice as many as Starr. Had Superbowl’s been in existence earlier ’67, Starr’s mark equates 5-0 in said; Brady career to date is but 4-2.
* Part & parcel thereof – winning – Starr’s post season percentage is .900… 1 loss in 10 games; Brady’s percentage pales comparison: 8 losses in 29 games, percentage .724
* The ball manipulator of his own balls hasn’t as many touchdown passes thrown as (insert several players who are greater; Brady is but ‘tied’ 4th place)
* Hasn’t thrown for as many yards passing as (insert several players who did better; Brady is but 5th)
* Hasn’t as many attempts, completions as (insert several players who did better – Brady is 5th in both these categories too)
Now CG, tell us again how the ‘great over-hype’ Cheater Tom is the best ever… can’t be done, outside subjective “yeah but’s”, “if only’s”, “woulda coulda shouldas” and the last gasp standby, “this era is better than the previous ones” because (insert excuses here).
Kerouac loves great fiction the likes Belichick, Brady and the Patri-cheats; glad to help you/the rest of the biased and/or otherwise uninformed out, CG.
: )
OK HIS career isn’t over…by then he will be number one in even more categories. He did 6 title games over twelve years..he lives at the super bowl Bart Starr didn’t he, Montana,Bradshaw..all won theirs over a five or six year span…Brady may be there again this year…I will say this Starr played in a different ear as did the other two kinda…so in a way maybe to be fair Tom is best of ‘todays’ quarterbacks…over the last say 25 years…modern football…
“OK HIS career isn’t over…by then he will be number one in even more categories.”
– at the risk of sounding argumentative (who me?), Kerouac has refuted your current – and, ad nauseam – Brady statements, yet again. Can’t gussy up/pass them off as fact long as righteousness choice, ‘Kerouac’, shines the ever-lovin’ light of truth upon said.
Far as “OK HIS career isn’t over”, that perhaps the most telling statement of all. Are records as revered/really held in the same regard whern a player ‘hangs around’ in order to pass someone else?
I’m talkin’ any player, any sport.
Emmitt Smith ‘hung around’ too, long enough to end his career with more rushing yards than anyone ever… that he (of course) needed many more carries & many more years to do so? ‘Nuff said.
Bonds eventually passed Ruth in home runs – that he needed an ‘extra’ 837 at bats do so, beyond what Ruth had? Embarrassing. Even moreso the steroid/HGH/PED addled modern era, sports. At bats each exactly the same 8,399, Ruth had 714 hrs & Bonds only 619 – with medicinal assist. Upshot: Bonds merely ran past the finish line of a race that Ruth had already won, long ago. If a Rodriquez ever passes Ruth, Aaron and Bonds in home runs the same fashion via ‘hanging on’, to what end/so what?
Back to Brady-cheat, Beli-cheat and the Patri-cheat way…
“He did 6 title games over twelve years..he lives at the super bowl Bart Starr didn’t he, Montana,Bradshaw..all won theirs over a five or six year span”
– that’s interesting (il)logic there, CG… Starr wins 5 in 7 years while Brady merely ‘does/plays in’ 6 in 12 years – and he only wins 4 – but Brady is ‘the best ever’; heh-heh-larious. Nod Sgt. attributed Joe Friday’s “just the facts ma’am”: the facts trump subjective opine, always, 24/7/365
“Brady may be there again this year…I will say this Starr played in a different ear as did the other two kinda”
– let’s leave Bart’s auditory appendage out of this discussion, CG (he isn’t here to critique your hairpiece either, a rumor persists.) As stated, shy subjective opinion – everyone can play the “yeah but” game – Starr blows Brady away – as every other QB – ever.
“so in a way maybe to be fair Tom is best of ‘todays’ quarterbacks”
– even that is debatable, but holds some semblance possibility at least. Will give you that faint praise, your otherwise swiss as the chiefs argument. Personally, Kerouac would take ANY of the old school types: Starr, Unitas, Dawson, Jurgensen, Graham and an Baugh (Connerly & Tittle too in the conversation) o’er the latter day ‘rules-enhanced’ types, beneficiaries 5-yard WR bump rule change 1978, and OL aided pass-blocking rule change 1973.
The ‘new’ NFL comparison ‘old’ measure QB ratings leaves the long-time fan bemused & too incredulous: top 50 QB’s all-time using this model, even here Tom Brady ranks only 5th best in history, behind such a luminary as Tony Romo (cue Aflac Duck shaking his head, “aH-HAH?!?)
Starr ranks 56th, Dawson and Jurgensen tied at 40th & Johnny Unitas 77th… utter sacrilege, put another, BS. Among those QB’s ranked ahead all these old-timers: Alex Smith – nuff said – proof positive that if the fix is not necessarily in, the joke is… on us.
Brian Griese, Ryan Tannehill and David Garrard a few the other QB’s names that rank higher all-time than those old school types referenced. Today’s Qb’s, Wr’s & offenses have an much greater advantage than their predecessors that most stats are tinged by asterisk, or should be.
Yesteryear rules, modern day drools NFL & MLB, et al: see how that works CG, this sentiment mine spoken as if irrefutable fact? Turnabout’s fair play, as such.
🙂
By the way CG, one more quote yours to address: “by then he will be number one in even more categories.”
– what exactly is it Brady’s #1 in right now, as we speak?
Not Championships, not stats, only controversy.
About all anyone can hang their hat on is that – by virtue ‘Championship’ having been changed to ‘Superbowl’ – he has played in more… faint praise, 4-2 the sobering fact.
🙂
(PS) Another old-timer still holds the all-time NFL record for winning percentage by a QB – Otto Graham won 81% of all the games he ever played in.
Et tu, Tommy Boy?
🙂
kerowacky knows his sh*t!
He should go on jeopardy…this guy is amazing!
Of course glaze is never right…but kerowacky has
some incredible knowledge about sports I’ve never
seen before!
I’m with you, CG. I’m not a New England fan, but the dude is a freaking Superstar. I’m rooting for them to win it all just so I can watch Tom Terrific hold the trophy next to that arrogant POS Goodell. Classic.
agreed. I’m not a New England fan on a daily bases but I am a Brady fan..he’s earned it. I know Roger Goodell did that to Brady to show the rest of the league that even the number one guy would be punished for wrong doing…he just picked the wrong guy and the wrong reason…should be for criminal acts like murder, rape, assult, so on not air out of a ball.
