One of KC’s top morning radio hosts Mike Kennedy has left the airwaves…
Kennedy will apparently stay on as the station’s program director but will no longer anchor of Q104’s morning drive. The new anchor is Zeke Montanna, Mike’s co host for years who will stay on as the lead morning voice.
Earlier this year Kennedy was elected to the Country Music Radio Hall of Fame. And he’s has been an on air personality in Kansas City for more like 20 years.
Curiously, Kennedy’s wife Nycki Pace has also left her morning show post opposite Kelly Urich on Entercom’s 99.7 The Point. She’s been an on air personality at several local stations over the past 15 years.
I’ve worked with Mike for more than 20 years, going back to his Randy Miller days at Q104. AndI’ve been on I the air with Nyki at her various stations. Both were very nice and fun to work with. Mike and I have had a close relationship at Q104 and I will continue to be on the station with Stanford’s comics and Zeke.
Over that same period of time I’ve been with 98.9 The Rock with Johnny Dare.
Dare is now by far the best known name in local morning radio, where he continues to light it up for Entercom. Kennedy will continue to oversee Q104 and I’m sure will drop in and be on air at times. But his daily to on air duties have come to an end.
And it looks like maybe he and wife Nyki will be working together on future projects and their family life at home.
I’ll miss working on air with Mike, he’s such a great guy and loved by his Kansas City fans.
Mike was a great gy and very talented nd knew how to run a radio station.
appears these amatuers from pitts bug came in and took over the show
and mike may have decided that it was tme to turn things down a bit.
no matter what the deal was hell be missed and the station has taken
a huge fall since these new amatuers took over tryin to run a big
revnue stations.
never listend to his wife but did by the back to the future car I think
her dad built n we had a blast with it way back when.
so god luckto a talented duo…kc will miss you….you were great for this
lackluster cityand hopefully bigger ad better things are coming your future.
As you know Harley has the quija board out and to be honest the board is
saying big things lie ahead for both of you. You beloing in Nashville or
some other big name market …and it will come if you wait
as for glaze…Harley predicted something big is coming based on the
moon and the alignment of the planets in the next 5 month.
and as everyone knows…HARLEY IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAKE CARE…GOOD LUCK…HAPPY TRAVELS.
Harley, my friend Karl Childers and I have discussed this in detail and believe that you are one of the most embarrassingly stupid people on the planet. Really. The idea that you attended college is preposterous. You could f*ck up the spelling and syntax in Tic Tac Toe. I am sure, considering how Politically Correct that MU is, that they have remedial, Affirmative Action exceptions for folks who just can’t grasp the Tic Tac Toe concept and need an “Even Playing Field”. You still flunk out in 10 minutes.
You NEVER went to college. You NEVER graduated from the 8th Grade and we all know it.
You have the IQ of Planeria
forest this isn’t an English class and we don’t get points
for spelling or grammar or everyone on here would fail.
If you’re willing to put your money where your mouth is
bring it on…10K proves everything…winner takes
all.
story was about kennedy…not Harley.
keep to the subject. I suppose you have adhd so you find
yourself incapable of doing that.
next time use better lines. The ones you use are old….
Any time you can get the money together feel free to
get in touch with Harley.
I will rip you a new _____________
thanks and good day
Harley
whats even dumber is that you are insulting someone you’ve
never met nor even know where I exist…Take care.
see ya later fool!

The only DJ in America that has been trying to make Jackyl a thing for 25 years now.
What’s wrong with this story?
For one KBEQ has been sucking in the ratings and its new ownership wants him to concentrate more on turning the station back on track. He needs to spend more time in management instead of behind the mic.
Nycki was replaced in middays by 99.7 The Point’s new program director Leigh McNabb who took over after Tony Lorino was shipped off to Atlanta. Hence the savings of one pretty hefty salary.
Nycki has been doing mornings on 99.7 for over a year….long before the new PD arrived on the scene. There is no connection.
Mind you this is a story from someone that cannot get in the building because he is banned. So, take it with a grain of salt.
Funny I am on air every Friday at 830 am on Q…how’s that work hater.
Always amazed at the trolls and haters. Again a nice story about a good guy who is not doing his morning show anymore and all I read is hate…so sad…too bad.
So CG, are you still banned from the Entercom building or not??????
Yes he still is, but we are the ones who are the haters.
Banned from the building? Do tell! Details, please. This joint could use some spicing up.
Nyki and Dana Wright might just get over in a broad-on-broad, granny porn picture. But then again, they might not.
Who still listens to commercial radio?
96% of all people on a weekly basis
Zzzzzzzz……
“Over that same period of time I’ve been with 98.9 The Rock with Johnny Dare.”
Craig writes a story focusing on Mike and Nyki, yet somehow, as usual, finds a way to interject his massively over-inflated egotistical self into a story that is not about him.
Well Tony it was about my relationship with Mike and His wife and my time on radio with them. As well as that era which included me doing radio with Dare. If that’s evil I’m sure sorry.
Don’t feed the troll. I rarely respond to his arrogant and narcissistic columns anymore.
I am not from KC but visit weekly and am a huge fan of Mike’s and sorry (for myself and other listeners) to see him leave the air. He’s not only a great personality but a consummate professional -with a pretty good ear for talent. I do look forward however to see him continue his radio career as well as keep up all of the good community and social work he’s been involved in. Go for it brutha…..
