The ratings for Entercom’s 610 Sports have exploded, leaping more than two share points since February on the coattails of the Kansas City Royals baseball team.
610’s 4.1 share and 309,700 listener cume for April gives it a sizable lead over rival sports talker WHB’s 2.8 share and 149,500 listener cume.
The $64 million question: will it result in daytime listening victories of Soren Petro, Kevin Kietzman and company.
Could be a long, hot summer for WHB
We shall see.
Last fall, 610 Sports ratings leap during the playoffs and World Series was short lived.
“But when 610 did it in the fall, it only lasted one month,” says the insider. “But this could go on for six months the way the Royals are playing and it could be a very long summer for WHB.”

Got to love that Royals bump, just like 610 got in 2014, 2013, 2012…….
Then fall hits, then winter and then things go back to normal. But I forgot, things are turning around for 610. This is the year that 810 goes down. Things will be different…
Same thing I heard from all of the 810 haters and “experts” since Whitlock, Maas and Grunny left to form the company. Hell I remember when the “Maas Exodus” happened, “experts” and 810 haters were talking about the ultimate downfall of 810 like the fall of Saddam.

610 has gotta get better talent if they hope to knock off 710 in prime day parts and demos. However, the Royals Bandwagon never started this early. 61 Sports has a big opportunity…we will see in time if they can cash in,
I believe that full access to the ratings breaks down any station by show, hour, demographic, etc. So if you want to know how Kietzman and Petro are doing in their time slots vs 610, all you need to is get the more complete information. As a Petro fan, I’d like to know how he is doing.
