It sure would be nice to have a national television show at Stanford & Sons...
A reality crew from LA will shoot 10 hours a day May 22nd and 23rd at our new club at Rosana Square.
So how’d it happen?
The producers who were with The Kardashians were looking for a show about an unique, funny and kinda crazy family that owned and ran a business in the Midwest. The folks in LA saw the animated pilot on Stanfords that did well in Montreal at the comedy festival a couple years ago. You can still see it, just Google “Stanfords animated pilot.” They liked what they saw and checked in with their local film crew that works this area. This company has nine shows on the air or ready to go now.
They contacted us about three weeks back and a tv crew came to the club and did screen tests on me, my brother Jeff and my father Stan. They also shot interviews with some staff. Then the crew came back on an open mic night and interviewed 20 or so other comics and staff.
The guys in LA liked the screen tests and the idea of doing a show at Stanfords, mostly on what happens off stage. The arguing, the media, the audience behavior and so on.
With of course the added bonus of weekly name guest star comics.
In fact comedy/film/tv super star TJ Miller was supposed to be here the week of the shoot, but has to do pick up shots on his new movie Dead Pool with Ryan Reynolds.
TJ also stars in HBO’s hit show Silicon Valley and this summer co starred with Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4. Miller and I are pals and we hung out in LA last summer. Stanfords was the first club that headlined him for a week and he has family here. Great guy.
Wednesday they shot him in LA talkng to me in KC about not being able to be here that week. Steve Hynter who played Kenny Bania on Seinfeld will replace TJ, who will back in late summer. Anyway TJ is in the pilot with us.
I’m impressed with this reality company.
They hired actors, some hot girls to be waitresses and more. So if you want to catch the goings on that weekend come down and see the show and watch them shooting us.
It’s a pilot so you just never know.
It would be fun and good for us and KC to have a series like this one.
I know we’re funny, crazy and different, so its up to the poker Gods from there.
Of course I’ll keep you posted.
And hey, thanks to Steve Kramer for doing such a nice job on the animated show they watched. I thought that was a priceless piece of comedy.
Fingers crossed.
that’s pretty cool. good luck, man! sounds like fun!
Thanks Mike, hope all our comedy fans and come out to see shows and be in pilot..they will shoot the audience of course and anything that goes on there as well. Should be fun and interesting.
Sheesh – if your detractors thought you were insufferable now, can you imagine their “joy” should this succeed?
Good luck, by the way.
Good luck Glaze.
Awesome news!
heard the main company doing this is a hunting/fishing show network that’s only
on direct/dish tv networks…not on cable or over the air networks.
wish ya luck on this project….be cool to see this on tv eventually.
What other shows does this production company do?

Thanks guys. I see upbeat news and stories don’t get the trolls out. Hah. I hope it goes well and many readers come out next weekend to see Hynter from Seinfeld and the shooting on the action going on. Should be interesting.
