In the words of the immortal Scribe Craig Glazer, “Wow!”
In what might otherwise be expected to be a sleepy month in the wide world of radio ratings, surprises abound. Oh sure, classic rocker KCFX FM is again on top. However perennial hit radio powerhouse Mix 93.3 muscled its way up to the No. 2 slot.
And The Buzz finally achieved its lifelong ambition and slipped past Johnny Dare‘s 98.9 The Rock. I can almost guarantee you there was some celebrating going on there.
News/talker KMBZ FM is almost back up to where it was before spinning off weak sister KMBZ 980 AM. And the wheels appear to be coming off at Q104 FM as the country station has fallen to 14th place – by far its lowest ranking in recent memory.
Of course, when it comes to last place, nobody does it better than Jon Hart and The Bridge, which continues to bump along with an 0.3 share and the lowest listener cume (20,400) in the marketplace among chartable stations.
Now on to the ratings for listeners 6 and older, 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday thru Sunday.

your numbers are wrong. for 12+ ( as you state) it goes:
KCFX 7.0
WDAF 6.4
KRBZ 5.5
KMXV 5.4
KQRC 5.3
KPRS 5.1
KZPT 5.0
KCMO F 5.0
KFKF 4.9
KMBZ 4.0
That’s your top 10. Other notables
Q104 #14 3.5
KCKC #15 3.3
Jack FM #17 2.9
Bridge #27 .3
Double check your numbers….I think they are 6+ and not 12+
It’s funny, but at the top of the listing it reads 6 + and in the fine print below it describes them as 12 +
There’s really very little, if any difference on most of them
Anyone know if any of the stations are planning a “format change” with April Fools Day being tomorrow or is that just wishful thinking?
Why is there a picture of a shirtless Billy Butler?
Good question about the Billy Butler picture.
A better question…why would he take a selfie of THAT body.
Not exactly an example of trim and fit.
I told you – The Bridge is up a tenth of a point.
It’s going to happen…
12+ numbers mean nothing.
46+ …. 25-54 adults?
They don’t mean “nothing,” radio guy.
Far from it.
The 6 plus and 12 plus numbers are the broadest and thus most accurate measure of overall listenership.
While it’s true, many advertisers focus on specific age demographics, the tale of the tape in these numbers does not lie
so, 6 and 12 year olds have money? 24 year olds? hardly.
12+ ratings have never meant much and they don’t now.
You can say it’s broad and technically, you’d be right.
I don’t see anyone craving the 6-18 demo.
Radio Guy…Hearne has been criticized for publishing 12+ (or 6+) whichever the ratings company is reporting as a non factor. You say “they don’t have money”. I cannot argue that reporting specific demos would be very interesting to KCC readers……so why don’t you put up the numbers.
It is probably because you don’t have that information or Nielson has intimidated you and anyone else who has access tho specific demos to not post because of possible litigation.
That specific information on day parts and demos cost multi-million dollars each year to the reporting stations. Nielson and local stations are not going to stand by and let a local blog report those numbers.
Regarding 12+ or 6+ (whatever) it gives the KCC readers a broad overview of the popularity of local stations.
Again, feel free to share your million dollar ratings information…if you can…and if you dare.
Adults 25-54 is the most sought after demo by agencies. M-F 6a-7p is the most sought after daypart:
#1 KRBZ 7.1.
#2 WDAF 6.9
#3 KCFX 6.4
#4 KQRC 6.0
#5 KZPT 5.1
#5 KMXV 5.1
#7 KMBZ F 4.8
#8 KCMO F 4.6
#9 KPRS 4.5
#10 WHB 4.3
#11 KFKF 4.1
Notables include:
BEQ #15 3.1
KCKC #17 2.9
TBG #30 .2
Is everyone happy now? Interesting that Entercom has 4 of the top 5
The Buzz numbers are impressive…did they fire Lazlo and Afentra? Please tell me they did I would love to listen again. I LOVE the music on it
Then listen to the Bridge. Music is pretty close at times without the crass talk and vulgarities.
Thanks, I will try it out.
Yay! Another Bridge fan!
Hearne….the ratings give out no margin of error. Ever seen a reliable poll
do that? They don’t.
So these numbers are just a fantasy. Too bad billions of dollars rideon such
b.s.
Eventually theurban stations will take over all the
The KC book is + or – 10% . What’s your point?
sorry dude…no polling organization can be called
reliable andbe off 10%…go to cnn/ras/gallup/nate/or any
poll that’s reliable….even the lying fox poll and theyall
have a margin of error.
show me where radio rating say 10%…that literally
makes it a laughing stock…luckily advertisers use it
because its nothing but pure b.s…..and the methodology
is used by no other polling company.
What’s laughable is you, angry old man who makes no sense. What’s pure BS is your babble Old disgruntled one. BTW, who uses the phrase Dude anymore?
Margin of errors are calculated on the following formula: E = zα/2/(2√ n) which deals with critical value, level of confidence, and sample size. It’s has nothing to do with you and your no one cares bloviated opinions.
THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CARE ARE
1. presidents of u.s.
2. every politician
3. every company who does any type of
polling on their company or products.
4.CEO
5. world leaders.
6. every media outlet
I guess no one cares about margin of
error in any polling…you’re wrong again.
so here goes…HARLEY IS RIGHT AGAIN.
obviously you never deal with stats/numbers
so you have no idea what you’e talking
about.
In other words…get back to digging the hole
buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many more kcc readers do I have to
correct every day.

We can all thank Old Media Chick for sharing prime 25 54 Demos.
Yep, Entercom is kicking butt. How did Q and KF fall so hard and so fast?
the Woolf’s PD out-fox’ed the hayseed bunch across town.
Sorry, but “wow” belongs to Dave Armstrong. And he’ll fight you for it. Right out there on the golf course.
