Who do they really represent ?
Washington was abuzz over Israel prime minister Netanyahu. He came to speak against the deal with Iran. He was invited by the Congress, not the White House. And his speech contained elements that were stark and factual.
Not one person from The White House attended, although CNN showed archival footage that occasionally showed vice president Joe Biden. But don’t be fooled – Biden was nowhere to be found.
The dust up with The White House could have easily been avoided by President Obama, but instead he dug in and made it an issue. That decision made the event one of the most watched speeches ever given in Congress. The New York Times said that demand for tickets to Netanyahu’s speech before the joint houses of Congress compared to that of a top-class musical concert.
The many Democrats who did not attend allowed us to see that that they no longer represent their districts.
They represent the President.
Their districts and the Jewish constituents who live there should be concerned.

Keith Ellison is a radical Muslim that is a disciple of Louis Farrakhan. It was no surprise that he made alternative plans. John Yarmuth wasn’t there, but he had plenty of anti-Semitic venom to spew immediately at the conclusion of Netanyahu’s speech.

As Netanyahu threw soft, inviting left jabs opening his speech, in order to set Obama up with the biblical Earnie Shavers right hands he destroyed him (Obama) with just minutes later, I marveled at how puerile the “take my ball and go home” strategy of the President and Democrats turned out to be. By abandoning the field in an indignant huff, the President got a taste of the “Realpolitik” he frequently delivers by way of pen and phone.
After the Democratic carcass was field stripped in search of guts and viable red meat, the butt hurt rhetoric from the left was only surprising in that there was no mention of “Blood Libel”.
They say that 90% of communication is non verbal. I don’t know about that, but the President’s demeanor in the Oval Office directly after his trip to the woodshed was that of a “Shot” fighter.
I have listened to, what in my opinion, at least rhetorically pass for good reasons to oppose BiBi’s claims of an Iranian existential threat (I don’t agree with them, but they are worth listening to and evaluating.). The price of the President’s ideological blunders, when translated into action, are historically borne by middle class Americans. This was a self inflicted wound, soup to nuts, that, in retrospect looks incompetent, but, at the time, should have been parsed by any low level, garden variety advisor with the prescience of Forrest Gump.

If the speech was in such demand or frankly relevant, , why then did the three networks refuse to broadcast it live? Thankfully most Americans recognized this speech as an empty drumbeat for war. Bibi and the d0-nothing Republicans have no better plan for Iran. The crux of the speech was nothing is better than an agreement. Really?…that’s your plan?

The “three networks” are loathe to expose Dear Leader to anything other than rose petals and soft balls in interviews, so the lack of prime time coverage of BiBi defrocking Obama of his invisible clothing on a Major Network is not a straight line reference to the importance of the speech, it is a straight line reference to the blind allegiance of the 4th Estate to the Progressive Narrative and the Progressive President.

This is an important topic and I’m glad to see it addressed here, even though many may say that national/international topics have no place at a blog purporting to focus on Kansas City.
Mark, your offering might pass for a response comment to someone else’s posting but for you to post the actual, initial piece, I think you have an obligation to do a bit more research and try to look at the bigger picture. There are a couple of 800 lb. gorillas in the room here and you walked right past both of them. At least mention them and refute them with what facts or opinions you might have.
First, do you think that Boehner might have had a separate, personal agenda here in extending the invitation? Where do you think his allegiance lies? Do you think partisan politics played ANY role here? He is in the fight of his life with his own party. Moving the topic away from the embarrassment the Tea Party wing has created for him and searching for something to refocus the entire GOP on Obama is a smart move on his part. Not a particularly unifying act for the country as a whole but that behavior wasn’t on his radar.
Secondly, you made no reference to the election in Israel in less than 2 weeks! Do you think that possibly might have been on Netanyahu’s mind ? Do you think he MIGHT have been speaking to the Israeli voters with this address? Even the most casual follower of this story knows that Netanyahu and Obama have a strained relationship. The United States is Israel’s strongest ally and for Netanyahu to knowingly step into the middle of a partisan situation and serve as a divider between Democrats and Republicans, and Congress and the President is personally outrageous to me.
As a Jew myself, I am very sensitive to the situation faced by Israel in their own neighborhood. I get Netanyahu’s priorities. However, I’m an American first. He seems to be playing fast and loose with American lives and American dollars. If he thinks all American Jews put Israel first, he is naive at best. Partisanship is an appropriate focus with domestic issues but with international issues, not so much in my humble opinion. For you to infer that the names you listed are not loyal Americans is hypocritical and wrong.
Mark, I have no problem with you advocating for the GOP position but I do think you have an obligation to the readers here to do a little more research on this topic and present a broader and more inclusive picture.

2. the agreement with iran is solidifying and our president made
it clear what he wanted and by end of month we will know.
3. thehaters of Americas success (chuck/walrus/hearne/chucke etc)
were very dismayed at the growth of the American economy headed
by resident Obama who did it all without ay real bills from the
republicans to create jobs/new infrastructure funding/closing financial
loopholes).. What do you guys want…more people unemployed…more
foreclosures etc…? You boys hate America…except chuck who
served in the military and who we honor his service.
could be 4 huge wins for Obama…and hopefully he wins his 5th
issue that I spoke abut….
sorry boys….as he said…American exceptionalism will overcome all the
