If the case of former Hannibal elementary school principal Joshua “JD” Foust is indicative, Missouri educators are surely in need of a raise…
According to the 2012 listings, Foust, now 33, was making only $65,000 a year as principal of A.D. Stowell Elementary School. The obviously underpaid Foust had to moonlight to support himself.
The authorities apparently took exception to his sideline, namely the distribution of heroin. So Foust stepped down. He not only stepped down.
He took off.
Northeast Missouri authorities now think Foust may be in Texas and that he could be trying to cross the border into Mexico. From what we’ve seen, crossing the border isn’t all that hard.
Two men have already been busted in this case, one of whom also has the last name “Foust.”
This cannot be a happy day in the Foust household.
How Foust got to be a principal at the tender age of 30–or even younger–has not yet been established. The principal-less A.D. Stowell Elementary School has purged all mention of Foust from its web page.
Hard to blame them.
Rich Steele is a citizen journalist and head of the NSAAS (Non-Smokers Against Anti-Smoking).
Clearly this guy’s skill set dictated a career in the private sector.
Probably was a dealer to the administrators that put him in that position. How the hell do you become a principal of a school at that age unless it is some bombed-out inner city school? And even then?!?!?
I didn’t know there were well qualified teachers and administrators beating down the doors of Hannibal. Not unless they are mark twain that is.
Well, I thought even the lovely armpit of a town by the name of Hannibal had some standards. I was wrong.
Why a story on KC Confidential from all the way across the state in Hannibal? More to the point, why nothing on the mess being experienced by the St. Joe school board less than an hour away?
Well Sir Paul…
Stand and deliver!
65K/yr doesn’t seem like much for a principal —
I know guys who are principals in JoCo who make twice that — plus — they draw pensions from one district, then work for full pay at another..
and remember — teachers are working 24/7 !!
i.e. .. 24 hrs a week — 7 months a year.
I see your point, gravitas but…
This sounds like a pretty small time gig and I’m not sure this dude put in the 24/7.
Outside of his extracurricular endeavors, I mean
“How Foust got to be a principal at the tender age of 30–or even younger–has not yet been established.”
Mesphistopheles was president of the school board.
Damn you Gestalt!
Good one Chuck. 😉
Google Jay Smith and see what a principle can accomplish during his lunch hour alone.
Imagine if Jay had the internet.
OK, lots of Jay Smiths.
