(AP) Rich Steele said Monday the he won’t run for Missouri governor in 2016…
Like U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill who made the same announcement the same day, Steele said of his current KC Confidential gig, “The work is too important, the job is too rewarding and too fulfilling and the trust that Missourians have put in me — giving me this job— I just don’t feel I can turn away from it.”
A tad more honest than McCaskill, Steele added, “Actually, I’m mostly just afraid I’d get my ass kicked.”
The simultaneous withdrawal of both Steele and McCaskill leaves the Democratic field wide open for recovering Republican Chris Koster, the AG who changed parties a few years back when consultants (and his ex-wife) assured him he had too much “baggage” to win statewide as a Republican.

her plan is already in the works….
work with Obama in the next 2 years but be tough and avoid any
controversial events.
Be centrist in her votes.
She’s probably not running for senate in 2016… tough race in a red state.but remember she’s the
first senator to back Hillary. she’llprobably forgo running again and take a
big job in Hillary’s administration.
remember…she’s got big bucks!!!!! doesn’t need the money……
You’re probably right Harley. Now that Missouri has gone over to the dark side, Democrats running statewide are facing a very uphill battle. Cabinet post under Clinton would be good but maybe she’ll get nominated to replace Justice Ginsburg, or whichever chair might come open. Being a centrist from the Senate might smooth the confirmation process.
Clinton is popular in mo. but…at her age she doesn’;t
need to fight another hard battle.
got lucky last time with idiot who made those stupid sttements…
and besides Hillary without Missouri still starts out with
230 plus electoral votes before a vote is cast…mo. is nothing
to her…………………………………………….
why beat your brains when she can wak into hhs/sec. of
state/or even homeland security…..its a cakewalk.
I think Koster might have a different address soon …. not the Governor’s mansion. He’s under investigation.
hadn’t heard that…but so may mr. brownback…and mr. Christie…and
mr. Koch….and mr. walker….
hey..they can all share bunks in the big house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
