A moment of silence, please for the Kansas City/Lawrence area’s finest electronics retailer…
After more than half a century Kief’s Audio Video is no more. The store closed quietly a few weeks back and at 9 a.m. tomorrow Kief’s will liquidate its assets via an auction at its longtime home at 2429 Iowa in southeast Lawrence.
Needless to say it’s a major loss for the Kansas City area, given that local retailers such as Brandsmart, Primus, SoundFX, Audio Renaissance, David Beatty and a host of others – both national and local – have fallen by the wayside over the past 10 to 15 years.
Looking for a potential red hot deal on a Denon surround receiver. B&W speakers, Sonus and a host of others?
See you at Kief’s tomorrow morning for the last rights!
Is there a list of items for sale anywhere?
who cares…another business owner who failed to change with the times.
wish him luck but a fool he is for not seeing what was coming.
Maybe he should hire shoedog to run the place. You know his track record
in business is so so __________….lets just say its not so good!
Or maybe hire chuick. Chuck can bring in all his 2 pals andthey can
play army between the speakers and amps.
Orbring in hearne…he’s another know nothing about biz kind of guy!!!!!!!!!
The auction company is Flory & Associates.

I went by this afternoon and can tell you there’s a motherload of cool gear; B&W, Denon, Rotel, Sonus – you name it. Speakers, receivers, televisions, cables, DVD and CD players, turntables – the list goes on and on.
Plus a number of things like artifacts, framed “Gold Records” by artists that sold 500,000 copies; artists like Bob Dylan. A really cool reel-to-reel player.
The doors open at 7:30 a.m., auction starts at 9 am.
See you there?
Too early for my tastes on a Saturday. I would only be interested in the records and the pair of CLS Martin Logan they had. But they are probably Mark II versions and I wouldn’t really be interested in those as much as Mark Is.
It was pretty sad to see the store I invested 18 years with be reduced to crumbs of styrofoam in the course of one day…
I would like to say Thank You to all of you that bought local and supported us through the years!
(I wonder where people will go with all the questions they have on equipment they purchased online or at the big box stores now that we are no longer there..
Good Luck!)
