How Royals like of them….
Last night’s Kansas City Royals win over San Francisco had it all; light-but-just-enough hitting, the best defense in baseball and stellar pitching.
Manager Ned Yost proved – for the time being anyway – that he ain’t no dummy by moving Lorenzo Cain to right field and putting speedster Jarrod Dyson in center to filed one of the all-time best defensive outfields in World Series history.
You saw the results, you just can’t drop one in on these guys – Cain made two circus catches to save the game and was just outstanding along with Alex Gordon.
Gordon and Eric Hosmer both got back to back hits to give KC what proved to be the winning margin. Gordon was on an 0-17 slid beforehand. Great timing.
Jeremy Guthrie pitched as well as could have been hoped and our new kid from the College World Series Brandon Finnegan was on fire again. As was KC’s star bullpen always is.
The Royals are showing the world of baseball a new brand of play.
Speed, defense and a three man 7, 8 and 9 inning relief staff that can’t be touched.
Who needs hitting with all that?
OK, well maybe we need a little.
A Royals win tonight would likely end this series in spirit.
I was somewhat surprised by the Giants pitching. Seriously, starting the 39 year old Tim Hudson as their best bet in an almost must-win game. Hudson pitched well but still lost.
And as we now know, told the winner of game three – going up 2 to 1 – takes the series 70% of the time.
Looking good KC!
AND HOW ABOUT OUR TOP HITTER IN THE WORLD SERIES, ALCIDES ESCOBAR!
IT’S OVER, IT’S OVER AND IT’S OVER.
It just might be with another Royals win tonight.
This is the weakest of the two-time in four years ‘World Champion’ GIANTS three recent ‘World Series’ teams. Injuries/less talent has necessitated Bochy’s best year managing in order try overcome said, and he has.
Kerouac’s choice still be the GIANTS over KCindy Pa-fluke-aville.
Uh Oh…we got jacked….trouble ahead.
series tied. no fretting. but, well, MB comes out today. will we have better luck against him? methinks so. will shields bomb again? methinks not.
Right… Bumgarner is GOD, KCindy Royals are but lowly peasants.
I stand corrected at the feet of God, and I don’t mean you k’rac.
Bum was just flat out awesome last night. best ever in a WS. whaddaya going to do?
Will pass your words on to my Father, who sits so close to me it’s as if we’re one & the same… GIANTS
With apologies Dylan Thomas, a history lesson, tale of killer C’s… teams that go gentle (nowhere) into that not so good night:
Chicago (Cubs) 1908
Cleveland (Indians) 1948
Cleveland (Browns) 1964
Canada (Maple Leafs) 1967
Clippers * (NBA) 1970
Chiefs (NFL) 1970
Cinderella (Royals) 1985
That’s some pretty (un)impressive company
🙂
* Kansas City’s former Kings the NBA have the longest drought – never (as in none) since their birth 1951; was only fitting they should stop by awhile & take squat here the town sporting favor forgot. Sporting KC? you exclaim! They call it major league soccer… Kerouac would rather watch old re-runs the Spurs (Blues too, that matter.)
tied 2-2…shields has to hold giants. The giants can’t figure out our 1/2/3 relievers.
Yost will either be a big winner or a bust at end of series. He’s made some
questionable moves…some worked …others didn’t.
But with team hitting 213 he’s working majic keeping them in this thing.
regardless waiting for games 6 and 7…..this is a roller coaster gone nuts!!!!!!
“Yost will either be a big winner or a bust at end of series.”
My GOD I wish I had those deep, intellectual reasoning abilities. And THAT… ladies and gentlemen, is how he claims he’s always right. You take both sides, one of them is promised to be correct.
Now, now, shoe dog!
Whatever happened to, “Thou Shall Not Bait?”
you know nothing about sports shoe dog.
Everyone except you understands the comment.
Yost has been making some crazy calls and making some
unorthodox moves. When the series ends many pieces will be
written about yost. He’s become the focal point in the media and
in the internet about his style and why he makes certain calls
and puts in certain players. He’s become the story of this
world series.
I wouldn’t expect you to understand this…you’re a box salesman
Yost will be a major center of attention after this series. More so
than larusso or san fran manager. He’s unorthodox/makes some
unusual calls (including a major headline about his use of right
handers last night)…
