When the ’72 Miami Dolphins went undefeated one key to the team’s success was its “No Name Defense.”
That’s because Miami’s offense had so many notable stars that got all the publicity, whereas its defense got little media attention and didn’t have any big name, star players – they just won games.
Juxtapose that now with the Kansas City Royals who placed three players on this year’s All-Star team – catcher Salvador Perez, left fielder Alex Gordon and pitcher Greg Holland – none of whom were that well known. In fact, I doubt if hardly anybody outside of the Kansas City area other than die-hard baseball fans had even heard of them.
In fact, one could call the entire Royals squad the “No Name Team!”
They play with unselfishness, have a different hero every game and a defense that’s the best in Major League Baseball.
Not wanting to rip off a name that’s been used famously before, I’m curious what the readers of KC Confidential might suggest we call this year’s Royals team, perhaps taking into account the team’s anonymity.

America’s involvement in the Middle East is becoming more and more dangerous for the Army, as evidenced by the use of its helicopters in bombing ISIS.
Therefore we need to be on guard against a slow build up of American soldiers in the Middle East. What starts out as choppers today could end up morphing into special forces tomorrow and boots on the ground next week.
That’s Just Common Sense, or Calvin Sense if you will…
We need to remember the Gulf of Tonkin incident that led to 58,000 American soldiers dying in Vietnam. And the blowing up of the USS Maine in Cuba in 1898 led to at the Spanish-American War later that year.
The progression of more American involvement in the Middle East is not only a logical possibility but also a dangerous one.
