The shooting of Suge Knight – gangster rap mogul and founder of Death Row Records – at last night’s pre-party for the Video Music Awards highlights the negative image of the music industry.
Unfortunately this negative image is a role model for African-American youth.
Kids who believe that becoming rich can be not only fast and easy and glamorous if you become a rap artist. This gangster image is also prevalent in sports by a lot of African-American athletes. The saying goes, “All the rappers wanna be athletes and all the athletes wanna be rappers.”
And looting is the gangster rapper’s mentality.
I have no doubt the rappers bravado was on Michael Brown’s mind when he strong-armed the storekeeper in Ferguson.
Because he walked around in that video as if he was the baddest man in the world, and of course, I believe this type of attitude was with him when he met the policeman. I’m not saying the policeman was right in shooting Brown because all the facts are not in.
And when you notice the dress of the Ferguson, Mo looters and trouble makers it’s the gangster rappers type of attire they’re wearing.
At Michael Brown’s funeral one can only hope the core trouble makers have been arrested and are still in jail so they won’t turn it into an embarrassing moment for Brown’s family and the nation.

Meanwhile in the Middle East, hard choices remain as to who the US should ally with in the fight against ISIS.
Sometimes in life there are no good choices, consequently, a practical choice based on the situation in the current time frame is the only one that can be made.
British authorities believe they have identified the murderer of James Foley and if so he needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.
The USA’s rep is that they will discover who the murders are, find them, and eliminate them. That’s the only type of reputation ISIS and other groups respect.

Nothing good comes from the rap culture, regardless of color.
Gangsta rap was passe in 1992. I’m shocked it still lives on in a bastardized form. There always has to be music for idiots I guess. What is funny is guys like Dr. Dre are not gangsta (he’s a closeted homosexual) and Easy was a phony baloney who died of AIDS and couldn’t even rap.
