The Kansas City’s Film Critics Circle‘s 47th annual balloting for the best on screen was voted on today…
During the Chiefs game, no less. The members, that include critics representing area radio, television, print and online media, voted their choices for the best motion pictures of 2013.
And while this year’s voting was close, the critics were unable to break ties in two major categories
In case you’re wondering, I’m among those who voted.
Now on to the official winners for 2013…
* BEST FILM:
12 Years A Slave (runner up Gravity)
* BEST DIRECTOR:
A Tie! Our critics selected both Steve McQueen for “12 Years A Slave” and Alfonso Cuaron for “Gravity”
* BEST ACTOR:
Chiwetel Ejiofor—“12 Years A Slave” (Runner-up: Oscar Isaac—for Inside Llweyn Davis which opens Friday, Dec. 20)
Sandra Bullock—“Gravity”
* BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Michael Fassbender—“12 Years A Slave” (Runner-up: Jared Leto for “Dallas Buyers Club”)
* BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Lupita Nyong’o—“12 Years A Slave”
