That’s probably the best way to describe this year’s undefeated Kansas City Chiefs football team, says everybody’s favorite Scribe, Craig Glazer.
“You know, there’s a lot of similarities between Missouri and the Chiefs, except for a couple things,” Glazer says. “The Chiefs have great coaching and Missouri doesn’t – there are questions about Gary Pinkel, obviously. And while Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith isn’t Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers, he’s a really smart guy that knows the game.
“So the difference between the Chiefs and MU – with both playing a weal schedule – is that the Chiefs found some really smart coaching and Alex Smith – for all his negatives – is a true, true quarterback. he does a lot of smart things that don’t show up on the scoreboard.”
That’s the good news for Kansas City stalwarts…now the bad.
“The Chiefs are now heading into the difficult part of the season,” Glazer says. “They play at Buffalo this week on the road. Buffalo got killed by New Orleans, so this will be a good measuring stick for the Chiefs.
“The Chiefs are already out of the danger zone – they’ll be in the playoffs – but if they’re really going to do anything in the playoffs – and everybody knows this – they have to win the division.”
I think the biggest thing that will make or break them is being able to get enough pressure on Manning when they play him to keep him out of sync. That is how Indy beat them. If we can at least split with the Broncos, our chances are really good to win our division. If we can’t contain Manning, our offense will not be able to keep pace and we will be a wild card.
Missouri playing a weak schedule glaze…the last 3 teams were all in the
top 25!!!!!!!!!
and they’ve got what one or 2 more in the top 10 and probably the #1
team in the nation….
come on glaze….get real.
now that the numbers in the nfl have turned against bettors like you
we see you’re really no different than the others.
no glaze they have to learn to score points. You can’twin in todays
nfl scoring this few of points in the playoffs.
The days of the 85bears defenses winning championships are over.
they changedthe rules to make it easier to score…so smith and
reid b etter figure out how to get some receivers who can get
open within 3-4 seconds before the trade deadline…or
they’ll have tough times in the playoffs.
agree harley. good D can always keep us in it, but against better teams you have to be able to score more than we have been. i’m picking our first loss to buffalo by a TD, perhaps even 10.
hearne… we were not unmasked. the chiefs did yesterday what they’ve been doing the past 7 games. how’s that being unmasked? even our D, held nearly the entire game without a takeaway or a sack, finally got’em.
Harley, I don’t disagree that the Chiefs could use more punch in their offense. But to say you can’t win in today’s NFL with the Chiefs offense is not correct. Just last year, the Ravens averaged 24 points/game over 16 weeks and they were the Superbowl Champions. The Chiefs scoring average through 8 weeks? 24 points/game. It can be done when you have a dominating defense. I would, however, like for them to get closer to 30 points/game. The margin of error for them right now is so slim and can turn on one bounce of the football.
didn’t know that jim…but you’re going against
Denver to win the division…you’ll need 35 plus points
in Denver..
maybe 30 in kc…
and they’ll have champ baily back then….
if you get wild card…you play on the road..
no one will beat chiefs in arrowhead…the raod leads
to super bowl thru 1 arrowhead drive…
they win the division…they’re headed south!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s tough to watch offenses like Green Bay, Denver, S.F.,now even Cinn. and Seattle and then look at the Chiefs. But 8 and 0 is 8 and 0. Maybe this will be our year. I don’t rule it out, yes its uphill, but Chiefs are already a winner with playoffs to look forward too, major national attention, sold out Arrowhead for the first time in years every game…and the spirit of KC is lifted. Nice.
By the way when Hearne interviewd me he has the notion that MUs has had easy prey. Yes all three top teams, Georgia, Fla and S.C. had injury issues. So does MU, starting QB…yes MU played four cupcakes, but so do most teams, Hearne thinks it was easy I say it was oportune, big difference. MU may come back, we’ll see.
hearne needs to stick to stories about bald bball coaches cheating
on their wives/the kc star and whatever is happening there..zzzzzzz/
and the rest of his normal lineupof stories that bore us.
He knows nothing aabout football stats and analysis….you and
him need to get together and do some sexy stories about your
past and his past…i’m sure these lots to talk about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
again glaze…you’re wrong…one of those cupcakes wasn’t a cupcake..
mnational champion…
where do you get your stufffrom….the ku athletic department???
come on….su about mizzou and go back to hottiesat woodside.
Harley I want them to do well, they made so many mistakes in the fourth quarter and ot that, well it was far from impressive…their new QB and D will have to improve a ton for them to beat Texas A and M, Ole Miss…yes they can beat Tenn.
With the good weekend, 4-1, we are now at 28-20, perfect on Pro, lost only one game, MU. So better week.
I knew it was a matter of time before Glaze started the Chiefs suck talk again
I never said they suck, ever. They are way better than I thought they’d be or anyone including the Chiefs thought they’d be. That’s all. I hope they go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. However, like everyone who covers these teams can see, the offense is a bit of an issue. That’s all. If they go 12-4 or better hell of a year. Andy Reed is coach of the year and so on…but to pretend them or MU is on top of everything would be a lie, right. Hey unlike alot of folks I took them myself on a tease -1 1/2 and under 44, just cleared the under by luck…our offense is troubled, simple as that. Our D is a big play D not a shut down D, which is unlikely in todays NFL…so my hats off to the Chiefs. They are a play off team already.
Surprised with an 8 and zip team we made no deals…I know NFL is not baseball and all the issues with the cap, but boy we really need a back, a O lineman and some B plus receiver at least…got none. Charles is 40 per cent of every play on offense…lose him and bye, bye. Oh well nobody else did much either…still…
