Look at what the “Mainstream Media” is trumpeting as great successes these days. Somehow it’s a good thing that our rulers in Washington have agreed on another TRILLION dollars in debt. That a health care law where premiums are rising in 45 states, and only going down by negligible amounts in the other five, is just what the doctor ordered!
While at the same time, ignoring how much the military-industrial complex is the root cause of this Country’s fiscal crisis. And pays no heed that the middle class is disappearing and that the gap between rich and poor is at an all time high.
Who cares about anything of substance amongst the ruling elites?
They’ve got theirs and as much as they ballyhoo and yelp about who’s going to care for “the children,” what is being done to help them? The next generation is being left with nothing but debt, rotting institutions and infrastructure, and the prospect of never living as well as their parents and grandparents.
Look at the World that is being left for future generations.
One where privacy will have disappeared. Where, if Monsanto gets its way and will be almost completely devoid of non genetically modified, nutritious foods. Where the water that comes from a tap is rapidly becoming poison. Barely fit to bathe in, let alone drink.
And where are the next generations going to work? A college degree, once a guarantor of employment, is now little more that a lifetime of debt. This country’s manufacturing base has been exported to China. We are on the road to this entire country becoming Detroit – bankrupt, crime-ridden, high unemployment- a shell of what it used to be.
And who is going to fix all of these things? Not this current crop of clowns in Washington.
A pox on all their houses! There are some great leaders still within the Beltway – they are not all bad – but maybe we should lock Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders in a room for a month, or however long it takes them to come up with a blueprint to save the United States of America.
Though on opposite sides of the ideological spectrum- they are two of the only people that make sense in DC these days.
I read, that if they raise the age on Socail Security 2 months every year until the minimum age is 66 the government is solvent in 10 years.
I don’t know if it is true and I can’t remember where I read it.
Intersting though. If true, it would inidcate that hard to sell cuts in military, SS and Entitlement spending, marginal cuts, would set the ship back on course.
True?
Cut the military ‘offense’ budget in half and we can think about beginning a discussion.
PS, my numbers are off a little but you get my anecdotal drift.
you and chuck and Wilson and balboni and hearne and
dude the mouse and the rest of the old guys on kcc should all
get together and throw a freakins PITY PARTY!!!!!!!
go buy some ruffles and dip and watch your heroes on fox
news with their new mega monitors (have you seen those things
…they’re like giant tables)…and all cry and ball and whine
and sulk and say woe is me the world is ending.
everything you say is WRONG WHINEY.
aca will work…when you have 30 million people jamming a
site theres gonna be lots of problems…
and remember whiney its the same program your hero
Romney did in massachusettes…..and its working great 97%
coverage…but when you have old grumpy losers trying to
sabotage it theres going to be problems.
to solutions are real easy…but the 20 or 30 low lifes in
congress are holding up any possible bills to solve the
problems.
25 billion dollars was the cost for the shutdown…forced on
the nation by about 25 losers who are trying to destroy
the nation…plus the other losses in business/output and
the billions in lost commerce….for what? ego of the
t party….and john boner who couldn’t lead a marching band!
Whiney…technology will save us…we’ll have more energy
to run this nation than we have ever seen….medical discoveries
mean old guys like you can live to be 100….with hormone
therapy and pills you’ll be able to jack off til you’re 130…
the kids will live forever….you won’t have to traipse to court
it’ll all be done with Skype!
as chuckles said the answer to all these problems is so simple
if we get the right people in office to make some decent decisions.
we’ve got to eliminate/exterminate the t party hoodlums.
Even my republican friends and office holders say this…if not
the republican party will implode.
Social security….a minor tweak (raise max level of tax/add a year to
retirement starting in 2020/adjust the benefits for those who
don’t need it)…minor changes that if made makeit whole.
medicare…something had to be done. I work with the top
doctors in the nation and unless something was done
with health insurance and medicare/Medicaid/uninsured
we’re busted…broke….out ofbusiness…and so we’ll do
romneys program on a national level.
will it work…lets pray it does.
the debt isfalling faster than ever…in fact economists on both
sides it could be falling too fast.
the corps and pacs with their secrte money have astranglehold
on the lawmaking. You know this whiney. You’ve seen it.
In kansaslook what they’re doing!!!!!
cut off the offshore accounts and tax fraud…collect those
200 billion a year….close the loopholes…no more subsidies
to shell oil/Monsanto/adm etc.
WHAT THE F*CK ARE WE DOING?
stop whining….get off your a$$ and do something.
its a beautiful world out there….go do something to make it better!!!!!!!!
See David, I knew you had it in you. While your opinion of the health care law is a bit shallow and premature from my “socialist” perspective, you did leave your shrill rhetoric in your briefcase this time. All in all this was a good piece and had surprising balance. In fact, if I just took a few lines by themselves, I’d even say there may be a closet liberal lurking somewhere, albeit deeply hidden or repressed, in your psyche.
Nice effort counselor.
Maybe a “small l” liberal…
Sorry to be excessive here in the space I take up but thought this quote by the “Big Guy” hit the nail on the head and even serves to support David’s closing paragraphs:
I have already intimated to you the danger of Parties in the State… Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party generally.
This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human Mind. It exists under different shapes in all Governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.
Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.
It serves always to distract the Public Councils and enfeeble the Public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.
There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the Administration of the Government and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.
It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free Country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective Constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the Powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of that love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates in the human heart, is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this position. The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power, by dividing and distributing it into different depositaries, and constituting each the guardian of the public weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern; some of them in our country and under our own eyes. To preserve them must be as necessary as to institute them. If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit, which the use can at any time yield.
–George Washington, from the Farewell Address, Sept. 19, 1796
A couple of thoughts after reading this again. First, how prescient our first citizen was and how truly fortunate we were to have him at this time and place in history; and second, how far the art of crafting the written word has fallen in the last 200 + years. Except of course with Paul Wilson J
You talk about ted cruz as a great leader?
where…when….name the instance….he’s so far eaten up right now
his body is like an electrical tazer…no one wants to touch this guy.
He’s limited…by his own laziness and actions…won’t go further than
a long time senator in a soon to be purple state.
He can last maybe one more or two more terms…after that
out he goes as texasis the last of the great states to go
heavy heavy blue. After that it makes nodifference what this
idiot does…he’s gone to the trash bin of history.
There are few great problem solvers in d.c…only the few bagb men
who have bought up the politicians. This shutdwn doesn’t occur unless
republicans are afraid the big money finds someone to run against
them in a primary and they lose their positions.
no great men left…just a lot of beggars and thieves..
and yes…your boy ted had pork in that cr.dudes…read about it….
and he continues to bring home the pork for texas (they get more
back then they send to undle sam)….but lets see how loud this
loser screams when the word trickles down we’re shutting down
those worthless useless bases in texas..
oh yeha boys…ted cruz….t party cheat….no different than the
rest…and wait another 2 weeks when the established republicans
bury this m’fer who cost the nation 24 billion dolalrs for absolutely
no reason.
Where you lame brains get your idea…I have no idea. They’re rooted
in some kind of make believe world.
They’re based on some ideological masturbation that somehow makes
you believe that the world in Disneyland and waving the wand by
the texas conman will change the world..
and Wilson…crafting words…maybe …but they’re consistently
proven wrong. Whinerys a lawyer…imagine going in and giving
a beautiful closing argument only to have the other lawyer point
by point show that everything you said or showed was totally
incorrect and misrepresented. You’d looklike a complete fool standing
there ……beautiful words but hollow worthless meanings!!!!!!!!!
what kind of drugs are you guys on? The world in 1796 was so
completely different than the b.s. we’re stuck in now.
We have no checks in this paid for government…unless the kochs and
their klan say so.
and yes whinery is a liberal…he supported Hillary in 2008….he was
smart…..
but his continuous woe is me…what will we do…remember the founding
fathers created frameworks that would bend to the times…well those
times have passed and the interpretation of those frameworks have
been sabtotaged by those seeking power…one man/one vote (gone!!!!!!)
and plenty of other frameworks that were meant to protect the
minority that have been taken apart for the personal power hungry thieves.
the world ischanging…change with it or get off.
Or change it!!!!
thank god another generation has a chance to change it all….from the
looks of these baby boomers on kcc they’ve really f*cked it all up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
regardless …live each day as its your last…even with the hate and vile
language and stealing and cheating….IT IS A BEAUTIFUL WORLD!!!!!!!!
Who let the gimp out of his hole?
